Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10110 comments It's hard to get too emotionally attatched to a song when the music video shows putty-faced children marching into a meat grinder. Hehe!

message 1252: by C. J., Cool yet firm like ice (new)

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4470 comments Awesome. I thought liking "Another Brick in the Wall" was more like a cliché because Pink Floyd has other great songs as well.

message 1253: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10110 comments "Dogs" has always been a favorite Pink Floyd song of mine. It's 17 plus minutes long, but it's worth every second.

message 1254: by Nicky (new)

Nicky (soundgirl) | 1388 comments I had to go and have a listen to 'dogs' I hadn't heard it for so long I'd forgotten how it went! It's always difficult picking a song as your favourite because, I don't know about you guys, but it often depends on the mood I'm in.

message 1255: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10110 comments Same here, Nicky. When it comes to The Police, for example, "I Burn For You" and "Invisible Sun" are my downer songs and "Landlord" and "Next to You" are my energizing songs.

message 1256: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments For some strange reason, I have accumulated a number of scars from beer bottle incidents over the years. I have:

1) a scar on the top of my head after being hit with a beer bottle in an attempted robbery.

2) a scar in my eyebrow and under my eye after some fool threw a beer bottle at me from a car while I was riding my bike.

3) a scar on my hand after a poor attempt at removing the cap caused a beer bottle to shatter in my hand while I was opening it.

message 1257: by Mark (new)

Mark (crawdadddy) | 402 comments 2....Because, I can see getting hit in the back, but full on frontal, that's attempted homicide.

message 1258: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments Reckless Conduct Endangering Life was the charge - the investigating detectives didn't quite go as far as attempted murder.

Sadly, a slight case of unconsciousness stopped me from getting any useful details and no-one was ever charged. I spent three weeks in the Eye and Ear Hospital with glass fragments behind my eye and way too close to my brain for comfort.

So no, unfortunately this one is quite true and happened back when I was 15.

message 1259: by Mark (last edited Sep 27, 2014 04:27PM) (new)

Mark (crawdadddy) | 402 comments Wow, sorry to hear. I picked that one because it seemed so serious. I think 1, unless you have worked in a convenience store, but then your question would be, "How many times have I been shot." So number one. Robbers would be focused on the money and after being beaned once before, I think you would step away from a bottle-wielding weirdo.

message 1260: by Mark (new)

Mark (crawdadddy) | 402 comments My brush with fame. My life has been one wild ride. I could list a lot here but I'm going for obscure.

1) I dated Mackenzie Phillips as a teenager.

2) Linda Ronstadt kissed me.

3) Stevie Ray Vaughan threw up on me.

message 1261: by Ryan (last edited Sep 27, 2014 04:45PM) (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments Haha, that one is true as well. The Australian definition of robbery is a theft where assault is used the complete the offence.

I was walking home from school playing my Nintendo when two blokes tried to take it. When I didn't give it up freely, one of them hit me on the head with his long neck.. Another trip to hospital. I grew up in a tough neighborhood! The scar is still there and looked pretty ordinary when I used to shave my head.

So that gives away the answer - 3 is the lie, I'm very accomplished at opening bottles of beer :)

message 1262: by Guy (new)

Guy (egajd) | 11249 comments 1 is the lie. 2 is too far out to be made up and so is true. SRV had a problem with drink.

message 1263: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments I'll guess...Number 2?

message 1264: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10110 comments You're a warrior, Ryan. You really are. :)

As far as Mark's three choices go, I'll take number three.

message 1265: by Mark (new)

Mark (crawdadddy) | 402 comments Australia sounds like rough place, I thought Texas was bad. Just remember: Bones heal and chicks dig scars.

It's 3.
In the early days SRV played every dump and dive in Houston where I grew up, seen him so wasted people walked out. Later, when he got famous he was amazing.

Skipped high school one day, road my dirt bike into Houston to see the new Galleria Mall, met Mackenzie who was there with her dad working on a comeback tour. She asked me to come back the next day and we hung out.

My cousin was art director for Capital Records, late 60's-70's, my family was visiting LA to see where he worked. We bumped into Linda Ronstadt in the hall, she hugged my cuz, and gave me a peck on the cheek. I was thirteen, she was barefoot.

message 1266: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments Hah! Thanks, Garrison. I have no time for thugs who try to steal Nintendos or fools who throw bottles from cars but beer and I have remained friends ;)

Great stories, Mark - interesting childhood ;)

message 1267: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10110 comments My turn!

My favorite subject in school besides English (major) and theater (minor) was…

1. Sociology
2. Cooking
3. Psychology

message 1268: by Mark (last edited Sep 30, 2014 05:34PM) (new)

Mark (crawdadddy) | 402 comments Garrison. I go with 3. Your stories show an interest in human behavior. And most learn to cook from a book.

message 1269: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Wow! A peck on the cheek from Linda Ronstadt. I would never have gotten over that.

message 1270: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10110 comments Cooking and psychology were both favorites of mine. I took psychology because it was during a time when my schizophrenia was just starting and I was looking for answers and maybe even a cure. Cooking (aka "food science") was another favorite because I got to make chocolate peanut butter cookies and powdered donuts. Mmm-mmm-mmm!! Sociology, however, was the lie in that series of three. The subject would have been interesting if I had a better teacher. Unfortunately, the teacher I had overloaded us with homework, was never available to answer questions, and whenever we did ask a question, he told us to "do the reading assignments". Nice guy.

message 1271: by Mark (new)

Mark (crawdadddy) | 402 comments I should have reread the topic, I was looking for one truth among a pack of lies. So I kinda got it right? Sorry, I am working tonight, but I can't help checking GoodReads. The Social Sciences were not my thing either, but psychology and cooking are skills everyone needs. Mmmmmm donuts.

message 1272: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10110 comments Actually, you're looking for the one lie amongst two other truths. But yeah, donuts make me drool like Homer Simpson. :)

message 1273: by [deleted user] (new)

1

message 1274: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10110 comments Yep, that was it.

message 1275: by [deleted user] (new)

Cool.
When I grow up I would like to be....
1. A history teacher
2. Someone who can play guitar
3. A person who works at Disneyland

message 1276: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10110 comments The first one?

message 1277: by [deleted user] (new)

I want to be a history teacher, so no.

message 1278: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10110 comments Number two?

message 1279: by [deleted user] (new)

Nope, I don't want to work at Disneyland

message 1280: by Nicky (new)

Nicky (soundgirl) | 1388 comments Very wise, December, I can imagine that could be the kind of job which might end up like being trapped in the 7th circle of hell! (Although you may have to be fairly brave to teach history as-well!)

message 1281: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10110 comments I guess I'll take another turn!

My comedic influences are…

1. George Carlin
2. Bill Maher
3. Joe Rogan

Nicky wrote: "Very wise, December, I can imagine that could be the kind of job which might end up like being trapped in the 7th circle of hell! (Although you may have to be fairly brave to teach history as-well!)"

I want to be a teacher and history interests me. I wouldn't be able to teach math, science or English

message 1283: by [deleted user] (new)

Bill Maher

message 1284: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10110 comments Bzzt! I watch him every Friday night on HBO and even saw him perform in Seattle. Any other guesses?

message 1285: by [deleted user] (new)

https://www.goodreads.com/group/show/...
It's writing, I just made it : )
Joe Rogan?

message 1286: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10110 comments You got it! The lie was Joe Rogan. Although I enjoy his UFC commentary and agree with SOME of his political views, I don't find him particularly funny and therefore he can't be a comedic influence of mine.

message 1287: by [deleted user] (new)

Ohh, I don't know who any of those people are

message 1288: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10110 comments Oh.

message 1289: by [deleted user] (new)

Yea, I don't watch comedians

message 1290: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10110 comments One night while I was “going crazy”, I said to my best friend Susan and her daughter Reina…

1. “The blood of the Ultimate Warrior is pumping through my veins!”
2. “Picklebee is coming for your soul!”
3. “I’m going to rip Inspector Gadget’s guts out!”

message 1291: by Nicky (new)

Nicky (soundgirl) | 1388 comments Before I guess, can I ask is Reina an adult or a kid?

message 1292: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10110 comments Reina's ten years old. Since that's the case, I think I know which one you're going to guess is the lie.

message 1293: by Nicky (new)

Nicky (soundgirl) | 1388 comments Well it could be a trap....but I'll say 2 - maybe!!

message 1294: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10110 comments Bzzt! Guess again!

message 1295: by C. J., Cool yet firm like ice (new)

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4470 comments Number three.

message 1296: by Garrison (new)

Garrison Kelly (cybador) | 10110 comments CJ got it! I've never said the third one to either Susan or Reina. The first two were creepy enough as it is. In fact, they prompted Susan to say, "Do I need to call Rachel (my therapist) and have her adjust your crazy pills?" Hehehehehe!

message 1297: by [deleted user] (new)

I've had an obsession (list to their songs over and over for days, not buying posters and stuff.)) with all but one of these....
1. Demi Lavato
2. Chrissy Costanza
3. Ellie Goulding

message 1298: by C. J., Cool yet firm like ice (new)

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4470 comments Number one.

message 1299: by Nicky (new)

Nicky (soundgirl) | 1388 comments So, this week I have been making....

1) Halloween Cookies
2) Potion Bottles
3) Magic Wands

message 1300: by Ryan (new)

Ryan | 5334 comments Hi, Nicky. Number two?
