Nope! The last time I ever wore make-up was Halloween, and I don't remember ever wearing make-up other than that. Some people think I do, though- I have a natural blush that some people confuse for make-up.

Edward (edwardtheresejr) | 2434 comments I think three is true ... I'm going to guess one is the lie.

That must be nice.

Stephanie (chasmofbooks) | 2875 comments Kyra, I'm going to guess number 2?

message 55: by Kyra (new)

Kyra (Nikara) | 1221 comments I bet you do. Some people at school wear so much make-up, I swear they got a job at the circus as a clown. I'm sorry, but I think it's really unnessecarry to wear a hundred tons of make-up every day.

And the answer is number two. I like One Direction, but they're not my favorite band.

M | 11617 comments 1. I’ve never taken girls to motels and signed in using pseudonyms I had published poems and stories under.

2. I’ve spun a car off an Interstate bridge.

3. I’ve had an intimate conversation with a woman who was later murdered.

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4470 comments #3 for Alex and . . . #2 for M?

message 58: by M (last edited Apr 25, 2012 08:24AM) (new)

M | 11617 comments Alex, #2 is the lie. (You’ve mentioned where you live several times in the threads.) What instruments do you play besides piano?

message 59: by C. J., Cool yet firm like ice (new)

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4470 comments Okay I'll make one final one for me:

1. I have gone to Disney World five times and soon this year!
2. My band teacher has said I can hit notes higher possibly than the entire school district!
3. My uncle is related to Davy Crockett.

M | 11617 comments In an early January, many years ago, in two-degree weather, I was stupidly driving up the new Interstate about seventy miles an hour in my Fiero, trying to get where I was going before the bridges froze. Mom was with me. It was sleeting and snowing. The car went into a spin on a bridge, didn’t hit the railing, but when it reached the far end of the bridge, it met the not-yet-frozen pavement sideways. The car sat so low to the ground that it didn’t flip. Instead, it catapulted, still spinning, down a long embankment of high grass, into a valley between the highways. It all seemed as though it were happening in slow motion. Miraculously, we came to a stop without hitting any trees. As we sat there, unable to see out, the car covered with frozen grass, I looked at Mom and wondered if we were dead. The lazy spiral cut into the hillside by the car was visible until late spring, when grass overgrew it. Amazingly, I managed to drive the car out of there, though later I had to have part of the car’s frame bolted back together.

2. I got thrown out of a legal writing class for making fun of the way the teacher spelled.

3. I’ve watched the news more than half a dozen times since I was in junior high school.

message 71: by Kyra (new)

Kyra (Nikara) | 1221 comments Yeah, mine was number one...

Um... 3, M???

message 72: by Edward (new)

Edward (edwardtheresejr) | 2434 comments Three is my guess.

message 73: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (chasmofbooks) | 2875 comments Number one.

message 74: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Kyra and Edward got it! I quit watching television, except on rare instances, in 1974. Having said that, I’ll admit that I made exceptions for Star Trek and Black Sheep Squadron reruns, and a few movies, and that I watched the entired Buffy series on DVD in 2005, and a couple of seasons of Angel not long ago.

message 75: by Edward (new)

Edward (edwardtheresejr) | 2434 comments Notice that none of us thought you weren't thrown out of a legal writing class.

message 76: by Stephanie (last edited Apr 25, 2012 06:23PM) (new)

Stephanie (chasmofbooks) | 2875 comments Haha. Yeah, for some reason I found that one really believable. But how did it take you days to realize you lost your car, M?

message 77: by C. J., Cool yet firm like ice (new)

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4470 comments #1 was the lie for me.

I've never been to Disney World even once! lol.

message 78: by M (last edited Apr 25, 2012 07:38PM) (new)

M | 11617 comments How did I lose my car? It would be easy to explain to me, but to someone with common sense, it might not be an easy story to buy. I had a very long childhood. I loved being home with my parents and usually didn’t in the least mind their running my life. I liked the kind of life they had led, and that was the kind of life I wanted. That was how I ended up with Aunt Jean’s car. It was a Pontiac Phoenix, a hatchback I detested.

While we were hurriedly launching boats, one of the girls on Baylor’s sailing team had backed my car down the ramp and into Waco Lake, but that hadn’t finished it off. She had driven it right out. Not long afterward, the locking cylinder in the ignition had stripped out. You could start it without key. It had been a nice car. Aunt Jean and Uncle Robert had a lot of money. It wasn’t a car I cared about, though. It was what got me to sailing team practice and, on the weekends, home.

For most of the three years I was at Baylor, I worked for the dean of the graduate school. There wasn’t much need to drive anywhere, other than to sailing practice (the lake was northwest of town) or home (227 miles east). I drove home most weekends. It was a 500-mile round trip, so I learned to study and drive at the same time. It’s a habit I’ve never lost. I still read while I drive.

Anyway (as Alex would say), I had been in a hurry one day to get to the dean’s office, so instead of going on foot I took my car. When I got there, there was no place to park, which wasn’t suprising--there was never a place to park near the library or graduate offices--so I ended up parking at an apartment complex nearby. As usual, after my appointment with the dean, I had gone back go my apartment on foot. I forgot about it until days later, when someone on the sailing team told me that a car like mine was parked at his apartment complex. I think I shook my head and shrugged, but not long afterward, when I went out to get in my car, it wasn’t there. It took me a few minutes to put two and two together and figure out where it was.

message 79: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (chasmofbooks) | 2875 comments Lol. Okay. That makes sense. Hahaha

message 80: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments Anyway.

message 81: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (chasmofbooks) | 2875 comments Why?

message 82: by Kyra (new)

Kyra (Nikara) | 1221 comments So? So do I, and no one complains.

message 83: by Edward (new)

Edward (edwardtheresejr) | 2434 comments 1. I played D&D last week.

2. I enjoy the Sound of Music every time.

3. Next week I shall see the Avengers.

This one should be easy.

message 84: by C. J., Cool yet firm like ice (new)

C. J. Scurria (goodreadscomcj_scurria) | 4470 comments Edward I will say 2. And hey and what if you don't get to see The Avengers next week. Then it would not be true!! lol. jk.

For Alex. Number 2 as well.

message 85: by M (new)

M | 11617 comments I can’t stand musicals. So I think #2 must be the lie.

message 86: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (chasmofbooks) | 2875 comments Alex (Al) wrote: "I say it a lot."

I guess. I don't find it annoying.

message 87: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (chasmofbooks) | 2875 comments Al, my guess would be number 1.

Edward, I'm with them on this. Number 2.

message 88: by Edward (new)

Edward (edwardtheresejr) | 2434 comments Whoops. Apparantly it's harder than I expected.

I thoroughly enjoy the Sound of Music. I did not play D&D last week; I ran the game. It doesn't really qualify as playing as it mostly involves people yelling at you and frantically trying to things moving without slamming through continuity and pacing. It also doesn't help when one of the players is a brat about one enemy (out of the dozens they've fought) that happens to be perfectly geared towards destroying him. It's ... a lot like work. Fun work (sometimes), but it isn't playing unless you play a character.

message 89: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (chasmofbooks) | 2875 comments Tricky.

message 90: by Kyra (new)

Kyra (Nikara) | 1221 comments Yup.

I own:
1) a cell phone.
2) the latest version of Apple laptop.
3) one of those cheap plastic necklaces from Great America.

message 91: by Edward (new)

Edward (edwardtheresejr) | 2434 comments One is the lie.

message 92: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (chasmofbooks) | 2875 comments Number 2?

message 93: by Jocelyn (last edited Apr 26, 2012 07:52PM) (new)

Jocelyn (joc113) Number two.

This is gonna be easy, Kyra. You know me too well.
1) I have over 30 yellow rubber ducks.
2) I love watching flames.
3) I own flannel sheets.

message 94: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie (chasmofbooks) | 2875 comments Yeah, I've gotta go with number 3.
