Christine you're right, what was missing was the conscious decision to change her life. The only explanation I can think of is that this will happen in book two? I don't think I will try it though. So I guess I will never know!

I miss Vinca too!!! (view spoiler)[Seems like they killed off one of the best characters too easily. Or did they just want Sabina all alone except for Adam while she faces the next challenges in her life? I'm not sure... I guess I just didn't really see a purpose in it, Sabrina was sad, but (as per usual) she didn't really convey that it was a devastating life changing death or anything. (hide spoiler)]

It's finally picking up a little speed and getting better. Christine I finally hit the cork screw moment which was funny...

That whole vineyard theme was so campy it was fun. I think I'd visit that vineyard if it really existed. Maybe get my hubby a 'vampires do it all night' bumper sticker.

Was able to finish it while away this weekend with NO wifi... But it picked up in the end. Luckily I had downloaded before I left and almost done. It's getting better as it goes, so I'm pleased. Not the best all time series, but not one of the worst either.

How does the second one compare to the first? I'm like you, the first one wasn't great but It was a quick read and I enjoyed it enough to read the next at some point.

Does Sabina's annoying character traits get better though?

She didn't seem to be as bad this book. The dynamic changes in this one where there are several characters really care for her and it makes her belong where before she was kind of an outsider.
