Natasha | 42 comments I'm just curious...does anyone know the etiquete (spelling?) on recieving consideration from a publisher? Do you just wait or should you reply with a thanks you or something of the like. I have one publisher guarenteed to publish me but I don't like the contract so I'm holding out to see if I can get something better. Another publisher wrote to me saying they are considering my work and I'm not sure whether to wait in excited silence (they're a much better publisher then the first) or say Thank you I'm looking forward to hearing from you.

Anyway let me know what you think. Thanks! =)

Riley (booksarecool) I don't know, but there are a few people on here who actually know good manners, so you're in luck!

Natasha | 42 comments lol...well that's good to know. I'm not sure it's so much about manners as procedure. I don't want to come off as unproffesional or overeager. My first instict was to write back and say "Oh my god! Thank you for not being like those other morons! You are actually reading it and thinking about it! You're awesome"

But that sounded pretty dumb so I held back and decided to think about it a little first! lol.

Riley (booksarecool) haha. My mom does that with job interviews.

Kenzie | 2838 comments If you find a deal you like, let them know you like it. Sometimes not seeming eager enough is a bad thing, too.

I was wondering, how did you get them to look at your writing? I mean, what did you do?

Natasha | 42 comments I wrote several query letters, and that was after alot of research on how to write a good query letter. God it's the part of writing I hate the most but it has to be done. Then I researched the publishers and agents that deal with my kind of writing, in this case Urban Fantasy. I did alot of research so I knew I would get alot of rejections, so I was ready for that. Not that it's pleasant but the best writers in the world have been rejected so I don't take it personally. I've sent out about fourteen letters so far, got five rejections and two possitive reactions..nothing from the others yet but it hasn't been that long, just a few weeks.

Kenzie | 2838 comments That's really cool. I've got to get to doing that. Good luck! I hope you find one you like. I watched the trailer you made for it, and it sounded awesome!

message 8: by Natasha (new)

Natasha | 42 comments Thanks! It takes a lot of hard work. Its thankless and tedious but it pays off. If you really believe in your writing and think it's ready to be seen then go for it. You'll eventually find someone that shares your vision. Good luck to you as well and I'm glad you like the trailer. I might sound a little over ambitious but about two seconds after I get a good contract to get published I'm moving right on to find a good producer.

(Crazier still I actually hope I can find a way to get Josh Harnett to play the character David...he would be awesome for the part!)

Kenzie | 2838 comments Ha, ha. LOL

Did you send them the entire book, or just part of it?

message 10: by Natasha (new)

Natasha | 42 comments With the query? Well you have to go by what the individual publisher wants. Some want just the query, others query and synopsis and others all that and three chapters. It's all different. One publisher has the whole thing...the other just the first three chapters.

message 11: by Kenzie (new)

Kenzie | 2838 comments Oh. Okay. I was just wondering.

What companies did you send it into?

message 12: by Natasha (new)

Natasha | 42 comments Oh boy...there are quite a few. There's wolfpress, dreamspell, the knight agency...if I can find it I could give you the link to where I got most of the websites.

Kenzie | 2838 comments Cool, thanks. I'm looking into publishing one of my books as well. I've just got to edit it again.
