I'm Looking for a Book on........

My first comment as a member of this group, I’m hoping you can all help me out please!
A part of WW2 I find particularly interesting to read about and research is the occupation of Yugoslavia and the struggle of the various resistance movements that existed there.
I have read a number of great books on the topic (by writers such as Fitzroy Maclean, William Deakin, Basil Davidson etc.) but I just wanted to ask whether there are any others on here that share my interest, and whether you could recommend any other books for me to look into please?
Thank you, I look forward to your recommendations!

Archie: For first-hand accounts within the partisan ranks, try the works of Milovan Djilas and Vladimir Dedijer. From Djilas try Wartime and Conversations with Stalin, for Dedijer try The Beloved Land and The War Diaries, Vols 1-3.

Here are a few that I enjoyed (or at least found educational):

Maybe this one?

Jonny's recommendation of Holland's book is an excellent one. This one might also help you out:

Thanks, Jerome.

Thanks Tom. Found where I can get a copy of the book you suggested. Important to me since my dad who passed was involved in this and I'm trying to understand all his WWII stuff he left to me. I know at one point he must have been "on loan" to Third Army since he saved a uniform shoulder patch that's definitely Third Army. I will treasure the info you provided and this group always.

By the way, I already have Isonzo: The Forgotten Sacrifice of the Great War on my to-read list.

I thought this good, Elliot --

The White War Life and Death on the Italian Front 1915 - 1919 by Mark Thompson The White War: Life and Death on the Italian Front 1915 - 1919 by Mark Thompson."
That fits the bill perfectly. Thanks, Manray9.

The author of this book also has published this book on the British Army in the Italian theatre:

This one I haven't read so can't say how good it may be:

This book has been on my wishlist for a while:

This book below took me sometime to find secondhand at a reasonable price so a library may be your best bet:

Thank you so much for this list of books, AR! I'm not sure when I'll get around to reading on this topic, but when I will I will have some great options to choose from.

Also Persian Gulf Command: A History of the Second World War in Iran and Iraq

Barrie Pitt produced a three volume series on the War in the Desert:

The war in East Africa may require a look elsewhere.

Thanks Manray

The Generals: Patton, MacArthur, Marshall, and the Winning of World War II
The Admirals: Nimitz, Halsey, Leahy, and King—the Five-Star Admirals Who Won the War at Sea
I don't want short 2 page biopsies with 200 generals in one book or "who's who" but something between "one book, one person" and "all the persons in one book".
Any major country would do, Soviets, German, GB, USA, even Japan.
Any ideas?

Can anyone recommend a good book about Hitler's Eagle's Nest, aka the Olbersalzberg?
It seems most of the books I find on the subject are either tourism guides or a bit amateurish.
I'm leaning at present toward Despina Stratigakos' "Hitler at Home" (Yale University Press) and Arthur Mitchell's "Hitler's Mountain" (McFarland) both of which seem serious works of scholarship -- but neither is necessarily written from the perspective of most interest to me (how was the place built, what was the layout of the complex).
Thanks!
