I do agree with you on the way a lot of literature makes us look. There's the evil lesbian issue, or the kind of romance that becomes sickening after you've read a number of books. And another 'theme' I've noticed is playing into the stereotype of lesbians trying to/wanting to turn straight women. Don't like that. I'm no saint and yes, I've fallen for straight girls, but I don't believe in 'turning' people. I hate it when men assume I can be turned and I hate it just as much the other way around. Real life and fiction, both. /end rant ;-)
