Saoirse The Issue of the lack of LGBT non-smut fantasy has been brought up a few times, and it got me to thinking, why not try my hand at some of my own? My basic synopsis for the universe is: 'A world governed by the separation of male and female is turned on it's head the day the Queen declares the Dawn Walkers and official Religion. The Children of the Sun and the Children of the Moon are outraged and disgusted by her decree. Long have the Dawn Walkers been shunned and killed for the dual identities, their blending of gender and their queer ways.' The short stories will involve a male to female Dawn Walker, a female to male Dawn Walker, a male Child of the Sun who falls for another Child of the Sun and a girl who falls for a Child of the Moon. It will explore the struggles of identity and sexuality in a urban fantasy setting. But my question is, would anyone actually read it?

Patricia I would read it. I think it sounds pretty interesting, the way you describe it. But -and please don't get me wrong here because I REALLY think it sounds interesting enough to get readers- even if few people show an interest in it, wouldn't it be worth writing it if only to get through your personal exploration of this universe/these characters that you've come up with? Anyhow, I think you should give it a shot, see what comes of it.

Saoirse I have already started working of the first of the four parts, my friend is proof reading it for me chapter by chapter, I will post it to deviantart or somewhere when I am done with them and share the links. I know I am not going to become a famous author lol, but it is like therapy, I get to express my fear and worries through this medium. I also plan to show the darker side of the LGBT, a lot of literature makes us look bad and depressed or like angels. We are humans too and I plan to get that across.

Patricia That's great to hear. I'm looking forward to finding the links here.
I do agree with you on the way a lot of literature makes us look. There's the evil lesbian issue, or the kind of romance that becomes sickening after you've read a number of books. And another 'theme' I've noticed is playing into the stereotype of lesbians trying to/wanting to turn straight women. Don't like that. I'm no saint and yes, I've fallen for straight girls, but I don't believe in 'turning' people. I hate it when men assume I can be turned and I hate it just as much the other way around. Real life and fiction, both. /end rant ;-)
