Clary vs Tessa- Tessa. (I freaking hate Clary!!)
Will, Simon and Tessa. However, this does not mean that I don't love the other characters. I mean really, who could dislike Jace? ;)

I personally like Will, Jem and Tessa better. Jem brings a sort of vulnerablilty out of Will, and Will's story is a bit more tragic and secretive than Jaces was. Tessa and Clary are about equal, but Tessa ability makes her more interesting. I also love how everything is set in the late 1800s. It really adds something to the story. Everybody is very proper. Like in the Mortal Instruments, Clary and Jace are more open about their relationship while the Jem-Tessa-Will dynamic is all behind closed doors, so to speak.

Will, Jem & Simon tie (I love them both so much), and definitely TessaTessa is selfless and brave while Clary is more of a damsal-in-distress
Even though I love Jace as well, I have to say Will wins hands down. I just found Will's story so unbelievably heart breaking and yet wonderfully complex and beautiful at the same time. Yes, Jace's story is like that too but basically nothing compared to Will's. Also, in Will we find a boy who is not simply an asshole because that's who he is. He became an asshole to save the lives of the people he loved and we know that every time he was cruel to someone he felt awful. I know that Cassie has said that people told her that no one would like TID, but I honestly prefer it. I just find the characters just that much deeper and the story that much better (which is saying something because TMI is pretty damn epic).So, in summary:

Will over Jace. I just don't think guys with long hair is attractive, even though he cuts it. Will is hilarious, and i just love him to pieces!
I don't really care for Simon, so I would choose Jem.

and oh geez.. well i like clary's thinking and how she looks at life but i think i might be able to connect more with tessa so i guess i'll go with tessa even though i still loveeee clary :D

Clary, because she's a fighter and never backs down. She speaks her mind and works hard to get what she wants. She jumps into things rather than consult with everyone around her, it's not her fault they feel the need to jump after her (like Luke through the portal to Idris). AND SHE FUCKING KNOWS WHO SHE LOVES!

^yw! I actually decided to write here because you pointed out how much Tessa dominates this thread, so I felt the need to speak out for Clary as you did :)
To be honest, Will and Jace are tiedSo are Clary and Tessa... I know a lot of people aren't fond of Clary, but I adore her!!
And I like Simon more than Jem, even though I love him too :)

Well, I like them because of their character. I hate Clary and I don't care for Simon. I love Jace, but Will is so much more romantic and expressive in his love for Tessa. Jem is just . . . a brother (Not like a silent brother) and Will is my husband. Tessa is amazing.

And so what if Tessa loves two people? The author only did that so that people know loving one person isn't a mandatory thing. Saying you can only love one is like saying being gay is a bad thing. Tessa knows what she's doing, meanwhile, Clary is just . . . annoying and stupid and did I say annoying? And indecisive about whether she loves Jace or not. At least Tessa knows she loves two people.

Now on the whole Tessa vr. Clary thing:
Tessa depended very much on her clockwork angel, she isn't a kickass heroine which is fine and cool, I prefer badass ones like Izzy and Rose from Vampire Academy.
Clary is closer to this discription than Tessa + she trains way harder and know what she stands for. She refused to hide in an institute, which was arguably a good decision, but hey that's how great stories are made!
I don't think comparing Clary to Bella is fitting. All Bella did was broke down, forgetting life when Edward left till she jumped from a cliff. Then she got pregnant and refused to get abortion risking her life even though she knew Edward would die with her.
Clary in the other hand didn't go all crazy-emo-suicidal-nutjob when she wasn't with Jace. Her life has so much more to it than just him - she has friends unlike Bella, she doesn't whine "Oh, if only I was a vampire I could have helped", Clary is all "Show me where my demonic brother's at!" She's brave. Reckless, yet brave. I like that.
Still, don't get me wrong, I loved how Cassie solved the love triangle, I really like Tessa. I got most (may be all, but who knows?) points Cassie made in CP2 and as you could see in other threads, I defend the way things developed and I understand why they happened the way they did. I really love CP2 and think TID is much deeper and overall better. However, I prefer the action that happens around Clary, how she pushes the story, forcing everyone to act. I'd like Tessa for a friend, but I'd love to hear Clary's adventures any day :)
To sum it all in one sentence: things happen to Tessa, but Clary makes things happen, no matter for better or for worse, which is more entertaining to me.

Noooo, Jace is a lot worse. He doesn't have a reason to be a jerk; Will did. And Will was actually funny, whereas Jace really wasn't.

I used to like Tessa more but in the third book she was quite bland. I see your point; I don't hate Clary nearly as much as others do, and some people even blame her for kissing her brother when she didn't even know Sebby was her brother. Will vs Jace: will, just cuz i think he is funny and a huge jerk, but cuz he wants to save themJem vs Simon: I am not that far into TMI yet (only just read city of bones, waiting to get city of ashes), by what I've read I like Jem, Simon is funny sometimes, but Jem is always so kind. Simon is probably funnier but based on over all personality i have to go jem on this one.
Tessa vs clary: This is a hard one cuz I really like both characters! Clary is more relatable cuz she has modern day problems, but i find Tessa more Interesting. Idk..... If i had to choose i'd say tessa probably...
Will vs Jace: Will. Jace was often not himself that it's kind of hard to tell who he is without being possessed or linked to another character. I'm hoping this will change in the next book. For now I know who Will is better. Jem vs Simon. Tough one. I like both and they are my favorite characters of each series. If I MUST choose I choose Jem. He is one of the truly selfless characters in the novels. Simon cracks me up though.
Tessa vs Clary: Tessa. I liked her from the beginning. She was strong willed out of the gate as is Clary but Tessa IMO is more mature. Clary sometimes is so wrapped up in saving Jace she loses a bit of herself sometimes. But it's really a thin line between the two females. Both are learning who and what they are. I do however love the fact that in TMI it's the boy who needs the saving. ;D
Will vs Jace = JACE; an extremely tough choice, but in the end, Jace pulls ahead slightlySimon vs Jem = SIMON; I never really liked Jem, and Simon is hilarious!
Clary vs Tessa = TESSA; I hate to say it, but Tessa is so amazing, even more than Clary!
