A Song of Ice and Fire question

We all get attatched to our series in some ways. My other favorite, the Dresden files, was introduced by my uncle for instance. For me it was Tvtropes, than it helped that the hotel I was staying in was near a bookstore that was promoting the hell out of it. I read the first book and liked it, but what really got me going was the tv shows. I saw it over the christmas break from college with my father (we have HBO on demand so we didn't have to clash with my mother and sister over cooking show crap). We both enjoyed the hell out of it, watched all ten episodes, and now my dad's addicted to it as well.
