MichelleCH (lalatina) Not too far, but it is NYC. He loves it, but it makes me a bit nervous. You should have seen me this morning after the horrible events at the Empire State Building.

College is much harder than kindergarten!

Oh, my! That's the kind of news story you don't like to see.

Where is he studying? My daughter is still at home, and takes the bus to campus.

message 253: by [deleted user] (new)

where is your son studying, Michelle. We just arrived in NYC this morning... The news did not thril me either.

Welcome to the Big Apple, Hayes!

message 255: by Marialyce (new)

Marialyce Have fun, Hayes, in my newly "old" stomping grounds.

message 256: by MichelleCH (new)

MichelleCH (lalatina) I love the Big Apple. If you get a chance check out Pearl River. Such an awesome shopping experience!

message 257: by [deleted user] (new)

Will do, thanks for the tip. We're in a hotel on the west side, near the natural history museum... Just fab. I grew up on the east side, but this feels more like home, for some reason. All the hours i spent here, I guess.

I'm struggling to get a copy via my library as the only copy is on long term loan :(

Dawn (& Ron) (furryreaders) | 456 comments Marialyce, sorry it's taken awhile to get back to you regarding the Benjamin Franklin buddy read. Ron's work schedule was all messed up this week due to Issac. And this also affected getting our copy from the library. We'd ordered it a week or so ago and were only being told it was in transit and then that weather conditions had further delayed things. Finally today we got word it has arrived at our library branch so Ron will be set to start when everyone else is (fingers crossed).

message 261: by [deleted user] (new)

I forgot you were down thataway, Dawn. Everything OK, I hope.

message 262: by Marialyce (new)

Marialyce Hope you are ok Dawn and Ron....

I will start reading this tonight. Thanks for getting back to me.

message 263: by [deleted user] (new)

Ok Jeannette, as i mentioned elsewhere, i won't be joining the vanity fair read.

message 264: by [deleted user] (new)

I'll take you off the list, Hayes. You made it through enough clunkers this year, so you earned it. :)

message 265: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks, buddy!

message 266: by Sera (new)

Sera Aww, sorry to hear that Hayes, we'll miss you :(

message 267: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks Sera. I have too much to do (a really big project until the end of October, unpaid, unfortunately) and Vanity Fair is not calling my name.

message 268: by Sera (new)

Sera Hayes wrote: "Thanks Sera. I have too much to do (a really big project until the end of October, unpaid, unfortunately) and Vanity Fair is not calling my name."

Well, I am sure that there are many buddy reads ahead of us, to which I am really looking forward.

message 269: by MichelleCH (new)

MichelleCH (lalatina) Hi all, Margaret, Jeanette and I are looking to start Fahrenheit 451 at the end of this week. Is anyone else interested in joining in? I hope so!

message 270: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh dear... I have too many things to read! I'll pass, unfortunately. Next time round for me.

Thanks for the invite but I have read it already. I enjoyed so hope you all do too.

message 272: by [deleted user] (new)

It's a re-read for me. It's one of my favorites.

message 273: by MichelleCH (new)

MichelleCH (lalatina) I think I am heading down that path too Jeanette!

message 274: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh, good!

message 275: by Sera (new)

Sera Are we still reading Vanity Fair in November?

message 276: by [deleted user] (new)

I think so, Sera. I have Marialyce, Sera, Kate, Jeannette, Dawn, Chris on the list. I was thinking mid-November/Thanksgiving. How about you and everyone else?

message 277: by Sera (new)

Sera I am ready to roll with the rest of the group. Looking forward to it. Starting in November, I will be reading 5 chunksters, which will comprise my non-audio reads for the remainder of the year.

message 278: by [deleted user] (last edited Oct 19, 2012 07:15PM) (new)

Five? Which five? I've been juggling two books, plus a manga buddy-read, and that's more than I usually have going. I'm typically a serial reader.

message 279: by Sera (new)

Sera Infinite Jest, which I am determined to finish by the end of the year, Bleak House, Vanity Fair, The Invisible Bridge and The Brothers Karamazov. The two latter are being read by the Chunksters group, and I am very behind.

My goal is to squeeze Wolf Hall in, too, prior to Nov 1. I am going to try to start it tonight.

message 280: by [deleted user] (new)

Good luck! :)

message 281: by Sera (new)

Sera Jeannette wrote: "Good luck! :)"

LOL - I will need it.

message 282: by MichelleCH (new)

MichelleCH (lalatina) Awesome! I loved Bleak House. You can do it!

message 283: by Sera (new)

Sera I know I can, I know I can,....
