Jennifer (jhaltenburger) The links are broken after the last site work. GR is aware and working on it, apparently.

Heidi | 2446 comments I have to click on the date at the top every time I enter a thread for it to go to the most recent comments. I've had to do this for 3 years now so I guess I'm used to it!

Denise (dulcinea3) | 50 comments I always click where it shows the number of new posts (in the forum itself, before opening the individual thread), and it will open right at the first new post. Sometimes it positions itself a little above that, but close enough; not sure why it sometimes does that, while usually it comes up right on the correct post.

So, for example, if it says something like "10 posts (2 new)", "2 new" is in red, and is a link that will take you right to the new posts.

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) GR did a massive backend upgrade to the site, and as a result a number of bugs have appeared... Otis said they have at least 50 bug tickets open and they are working like crazy to fix them all so hopefully everything will sort itself out in the next few days. :)

Denise (dulcinea3) | 50 comments The new posts link has been working for me consistently.

Is there a place to report problems or see which problems they are aware of? I've been having a problem with the 'never-ending book quiz'. It hangs my browser, and I have to shut it down. The weird thing is that it also seems to partially wipe out my history, so when I reopen the browser and it asks if I want to restore my last session, and I reply yes, it takes me to some prior page, and sometimes even several sites back!

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) Denise - The place your looking for would be the GoodReads Feedback Group. There's a list of Bugs reported there and the Never Ending Book Quiz problem you mentioned is definitely one of them. Join the group and add your "this is happening to me too!" so they'll know it's not just random. :)

It's also a good group to check in with once in awhile just to see what's going on with GoodReads.

Denise (dulcinea3) | 50 comments Thanks, Jennifer! I'll check it out.

I click there too but it doesn't work half the time.

Denise (dulcinea3) | 50 comments I replied to a post about it where Jennifer indicated, and the reply seems to be that the problem is that it no longer works with IE8.

❂ Murder by Death (murderbydeath) I read the thread you added to Denise - Rivka did say she'd mention it to the developers to see if they could do anything to make IE8 play nicer. But truthfully, I work in the school system here in Victoria, Australia, doing IT and the main IT dept. has told us all to get IE8 off the PC's in the schools because they had too many problems with it working correctly on their websites. For the most part, we've taken everyone to IE9 on their recommendation, but quite a few use FireFox instead. (I'm on a Mac, so no IE for me.)

Hope they get it fixed for you. :)

Denise (dulcinea3) | 50 comments Someone said that IE9 doesn't work with XP, and that's the OS I have, so that doesn't seem to be an option for me. I hope they can get it fixed, because it used to work with IE8.

message 12: by Karen (new)

Karen I do not know if this is the same thing and connects to the problems here, but I cannot find threads I have gone to the day before?

message 13: by Barb (new)

Barb | 1192 comments Sometimes those threads are just 'bumped down' and don't show on the main page anymore. For instance, on this group's main page, in the very first topic -- general -- if you look to the right you'll see where it says "showing 5 of 11 topics." It's up the mods for each group to decide how many topics are visible on the home page under each folder, and it seems that the mods here have chosen to show 5.

Goodreads then shows the five topics that have had the most recent participation. It's possible that the topic you're looking for is one of the six that's not visible until you click on either "General" or "showing 5 of 11 topics."
