Just for fun and out of curiosity, do you have a preference for the hero's description? Do you ever read a book and think the hero is exactly your type or get disappointed when the hero doesn't do it for you? Does that change over the course of the book?

1. Height
2. Build
3. Hair. Color? Short or long? Straight or curly?
4. Nationality or region that you prefer. Are you into Southern boys or Brits? Do you like Italians or Greeks? Latinos? Asians?
5. Personality. Introverted? Extroverted?
6. Looks. Drop dead gorgeous or plain? Cute-ugly? Rugged?
7. Eye color. Blue, brown, green, gray?
8. Do you like aggressive alpha types or betas? Nerdy/Geeky guys or sporty guys?
9. What makes a hero push your happy button?

No wrong or right answers here.

If you want to post pictures of your hero types that you like, feel free. Please try to keep the naughty bits covered up. :)

TinaNoir | 1456 comments 1. Height - Gotta be taller than me when I wear heels. So that means he has to be at least 6 ft. My hubs is 6'3.

2. Build - I don't like lots of muscles, but I like a guy to be toned and powerful looking.

3. Hair - no preference. He can even be bald

4. Nationality or region - doesn't matter

5. Personality - I like a guy who somewhere between introvert and an extrovert.

6. Looks - I like an arresting face. Great bones and structure. It doesn't have to be drop dead and it can't be too pretty. I like a face that looks intelligent and lived in. A little rugged.

7. Eye color - doesn't matter really but I do admit dark, dark eyes in a pale-skinned person or light, light eyes on dark skinned person is immediately noticeable and striking.

8. Do you like aggressive alpha types or betas - I don't like Alpha-holes, but I do love a hero with a lot of self-confidence. My favorite kind of hero is the quietly powerful guy who doesn't flaunt it, but knows he has it.

9. What makes a hero push your happy button - he's emotionally fearless. He'll cuts through the bullshit and tells you what he wants and how he feels.

Here are a few who I like, not conventionally pretty but meet my rugged & "lived in face" in the looks dept.

1. Height: 6 feet is the magic number. Doesn't have to be much taller, but I prefer at least 6 ft.
2. Build: Muscular and athletic, but not skinny or super-bulky. Anything bigger than Vin Diesel is too big.
3. Hair. Color? Short or long? Straight or curly? I love dark hair, especially black hair. I like long hair if it's thick and wavy and well-groomed. I prefer curly or wavy hair. I'm not big on baldness, but some guys have helped me rethinking that (like Cop, Vin Diesel, Bruce Willis)
4. Nationality or region that you prefer. Are you into Southern boys or Brits? Do you like Italians or Greeks? Latinos? Asians? I have a weakness for Brits and Asians. I'm not that into Latin/Greek/Italian. I have a thing for Russians of late.
5. Personality. Introverted? Extroverted? I like a guy who's a bit on the introverted side. Thoughtful.
6. Looks. Drop dead gorgeous or plain? Cute-ugly? Rugged? Rugged is good. I don't care much for pretty boys or drop dead gorgeous/model good looking unless his personality shows that he's deep.
7. Eye color. Blue, brown, green, gray? I'm a sucker for either dark hair and blue eyes or dark hair and dark eyes. I'm not big on light brown eyes for some reason.
8. Do you like aggressive alpha types or betas? I like an aggressive alpha if he's well done and he's not a chest-thumper. I have a soft spot for betas.
Nerdy/Geeky guys or sporty guys? I love nerds! I like soldier/warrior types.
9. What makes a hero push your happy button?
A hero who is very deep. He has a tremendous capacity for love and shows it throughout the book. He can handle his business, but he isn't about posturing. I love the strong silent, but demonstrative on his feelings type.

Some examples:

Cerebral, Nerdy/Geeky (still waters run deep)

[image error] Matthew Gray Gubler. I love him!!!

Rugged, lived in, not pretty but hot!

[image error] Daniel Craig

[image error] Christian Bale

Not my usual type, but works for me!

[image error] Vin Diesel

Very pretty, but there is something about them that makes me want to keep looking and fall deep

[image error] Ben Barnes

All I can say is dang!

[image error] Sam Worthington

My favorite, and my virtual husband

[image error] Keanu Reeves

Chaeya | 454 comments 1. Height

I prefer that they be over 6 feet, but the taller the better. I don't know, I'm short and I just like very big men.

2. Build

I like a powerful and muscular build.

3. Hair. Color? Short or long? Straight or curly?

I prefer long, dark hair, but I can do short hair if the hero is hot. I've even on occasion liked blondes.

4. Nationality or region that you prefer. Are you into Southern boys or Brits? Do you like Italians or Greeks? Latinos? Asians?

I'm not much into cowboys. I love those dark latin types, southern gentlemen, foreign men. I've even seen some hot Asian men on occasion. I'm open.

5. Personality. Introverted? Extroverted?

No preference here.

6. Looks. Drop dead gorgeous or plain? Cute-ugly? Rugged?

Can't do plain. I prefer drop dead gorgeous and can do the cute-ugly thing and rugged.

7. Eye color. Blue, brown, green, gray?

No preference.

8. Do you like aggressive alpha types or betas?

I need an alpha, the more controlling the better because I like to annoy them and get under their skin.

Nerdy/Geeky guys or sporty guys?

Neither. I love military types or intellectuals.

9. What makes a hero push your happy button?

Command me, baby, tell me what you want, like you mean it, and just maybe I might give it to you, or maybe we can argue about it, show you want me and that you need me. They're fun!

Hair, Black or dark brown, curly, but not too curly
Nationality;Italian or Brit
personality: Outgoing
looks:Cute to mildly handsome
eyes: Brown
Alpha/Beta: Alpha male

nerdy/geeky or sporty guy.. well if we're talking Spencer Reid I'll take the nerdy
For a hero to push my happy button, He's gotta be handsome, but doesn't realize that he is, He has to have a sense of humor, but isn't cruel with it.. and he has to be a gentleman.. open doors.give you his jacket whenit;s cold.. and will sit and watch bambi with you and the kids

message 8: by Delaney (new)

Delaney Diamond (delaney_diamond) Just for fun and out of curiosity, do you have a preference for the hero's description? Yes. See below.

1. Height - at least 6 feet

2. Build - muscles are a must; can be lean or thick (but not too big)

3. Hair. - I tend to prefer dark hair, especially black. Short and curly or wavy.

4. Nationality or region that you prefer. - Ethnic Latinos or Latinos with dark skin/tanned (i.e. Benjamin Bratt, Franky G). Italians-yes. Greeks-yes.

5. Personality. - Strong, silent type. Sense of humor is also a sexy personality trait.

6. Looks. - Drop dead gorgeous is fine with me, especially if they are polished. I love a man in a suit who is well-groomed. On the flip side, rugged men with facial hair and a little bit of an edge are sexy, too.

7. Eye color. Doesn't matter.

8. Do you like aggressive alpha types or betas? Nerdy/Geeky guys or sporty guys? Alpha men are still my favorite type of hero. I like them ruthless, and I like it when they pursue the heroine until she has no choice but to give in. Lol.

9. What makes a hero push your happy button? - when he doesn't take any crap from the heroine and shows her who's in charge; when the hero finds himself madly in love with the heroine and she has him acting in a way that contradicts the way he's behaved all his life, forcing him to have a WTH moment(s); when he'll do anything to save or protect the heroine/a child/a loved one.

I don't pay much attention in the book to the hero's physical description in a book because I can't see him. I have some picture in my mind based on the author's description or cover art, but my like or dislike of the hero is based on attitude rather than physical features. I like strong, alpha heros who fall hard for their heroine, but still remain in charge.

Delaney, I love a ruthless hero as well!

BkGurl, I agree that it's more about the personality than the physical descriptions for me as well. I say I have preference, but I love when the author can convince me to fall in love with the hero regardless.

Stacy-Deanne Stacy-Deanne (wwwgoodreadscomstacydeanne) I don't care. It doesn't really matter to me. I get more enthralled by the story and not by how the characters look.

The FountainPenDiva, Old school geek chick and lover of teddy bears (thefountainpendiva) | 1216 comments 1. Height: Not an issue as long as the hero is compelling. I'd love to see more wheelchair-bound heroes, or even shorter than the heroine types.

2. Build: Depends on the story. I like anything from rangy and rugged to slender yet tastefully muscled. Don't always need the six-pack abs thing.

3. Hair. Color? Short or long? Straight or curly: LONG HAIR ALL THE WAY! Nothing fires my jets than a mane of long, silky tresses blowing in the wind or headbanging on stage. Redheads are always a plus *blows kisses at Dave Mustaine*

4. Nationality or region that you prefer. Are you into Southern boys or Brits? Do you like Italians or Greeks? Latinos? Asians: In no particular order--Asian, Scandinavian, Scottish, English, Latin

5. Personality. Introverted? Extroverted: A mixture of both.

6. Looks. Drop dead gorgeous or plain? Cute-ugly? Rugged: Depends on the story. I like sexy, androgynous types, but a regular guy with a great personality works for me too.

7. Eye color. Blue, brown, green, gray: So done with blue and green eyes. Fawn brown or intense black eyes with silver flecks work for me.

8. Do you like aggressive alpha types or betas? Nerdy/Geeky guys or sporty guys: Beta and gamma males always. The beta male can whip ass then whip up a creme brulee. When they're written well, they're strong protectors but they aren't afraid os a strong woman. Nerdy guys are extremely hot too! In short a hero who knows he's dominant but chooses thew right time and/or place to do so.

9. What makes a hero push your happy button: A hero who can laugh at himself. Seriously, there's nothing sexier than a man with a great sense of humor.

2. Build: muscular build but not bodybuilder bulky
3. Hair: Shoulder length or long enough in the front to fall in to the eyes, not partial to any color
4. Nationality or region that you prefer. Are you into Southern boys or Brits? Do you like Italians or Greeks? Latinos? Asians?: Really partial to European because I love the accents
5. Personality. Introverted? Extroverted?: Introverted to everyone except those he really cares about.
6. Looks. Drop dead gorgeous or plain? Cute-ugly? Rugged?: Drop dead gorgeous with an edge
7. Eye color. Blue, brown, green, gray?: Bright blue or Green
8. Do you like aggressive alpha types or betas?Nerdy/Geeky guys or sporty guys?: The more alpha-possesive-dominant the better.
9. What makes a hero push your happy button? A quiet dead pan sense of humor. I'm partial to a little bit of an alphahole. The girl he loves is worth everything and will do anything to keep her safe and happy

Gwen (gwenk) | 201 comments Height: He has to be 6ft. or more. I love tall guys.

Build:, Muscular and athletic is fine, but not overly exaggerated muscles.

Hair: Shoulder length, buzz cut, just a regular old hair cut, shaggy or he can be bald. Doesn't matter to me. I love dark hair, but I also love brown with reddish or golden highlights, honey blonde and red. A redheaded man? There's just something about a man with red hair.

Nationality or region that you prefer. Are you into Southern boys or Brits? Do you like Italians or Greeks? Lations? Asians?: I love Southern guys. My fave heroes are Irish, Scottish, Brits and Europeans.

Personality. Introverted? Extroverted?::
He can be a bit of both, but I prefer more extroverted.

Looks. I like drop dead gorgrous and rugged, but not cute or pretty. As for ugly, that's a matter of opinion and in the eye of the beholder. He can't be too gorgeous though, because if he is, I think he's conceited. Men who are into themselves only turn me off. I'd like to see some character in his face to reflect the kind of life he lives. He can be clean shaven or with hair on his face. I love mustaches, goatees and beards.

Eye color. Blue, brown, green, gray? My favorite eye colors are green, gray and hazel.

Do you like agressive alpha types or betas? Nerdy/Geeky guys or sporty guys. I like all of those types actually, but Alphas are my favorite. If he's an Alpha and intelligent like Vishous in J.R. Ward's BDB books, I find that sexy as hell! I'd like if he knew a little about a lot of things. That would make for interesting conversation.

What makes a hero push your happy button: He has to have a sense of humor. That's a must! He not only has to be the heroine's love, he has to be in love with her. He's have to be protective and always on her side. He definitely would have to be romantic. Not only flowers, but little things like a look, a touch or his thoughtfulness. Love that! That's soooo sexy!
