Are you confused about how the house points system works? Don't be! This thread will tell you everything you need to know about house points.

How can I Gain or Lose House Points?

Students can gain house points by...
-Participating in class
-Handing in an exceptional homework assignment
-Winning a Quidditch match
-Winning a contest
-Winning a duel
-Completing a quiz (the number of questions you get right calculates to how many points you receive)
-and so on...

Students can lose house points by...
-Not abiding by the 546 rules
-Losing a duel
-Getting caught while duelling
-Inappropriate language
-Spam
-Naughty behaviour
-etc.

What are points?

Each year, the four houses compete to collect the most house points. The house with the most points at the end of the year wins! It's up to the students in each house to decide whether they are going to lose or gain points for their house.

Who assigns house points?

The Hogwarts staff is responsible for assigning and deducting house points. They are also responsible for how many house points are added or subtracted.

How are house points assigned?

If a Hogwarts staff member wishes to add/subtract points, they will visit one of the house points thread (for example: Gryffindor House Points). There are further instructions for the staff and moderators on that thread.

Where can I find the quizzes that I can take to earn house points?

There's a thread in this folder entitled "House Points Quizzes." It contains links to the quizzes.

Is there a prize for the person who wins the most points for their house?

Yes, there is. It's called a prefect. The boy and girl from each house that have collected the most points will be promoted to a prefect. The boy and girl who have the most points overall while they are in their 7th year will be promoted to head boy and head girl.

***The house points will be updated on a daily basis (hopefully), so an addition of subtraction of points will not show up immediately.

Excellent. Any questions?
