Why can't they reward us for reading when we grow up? Actors get Oscars for dressing up and wearing tonnes of make up and playing pretend. Why don't we have reader awards?!

Nenia Campbell (neniacampbell) | 97 comments well, since i am so addicted to this site, i do win a lot of arcs and get approved for almost everything i apply for on netgalley, so i consider that a reward!

plus, goodreads has those fancy stats for top-reviewers and the cute little badges you get for meeting your book-reading new years' goals! :)

Getting ARCs is such a highlight of being a bookworm. Plus, the thrill of reading is it's own reward in a way!

i had a book of korean fairytales that i love (in fact i'm actually planning on writing modern retellings of some of my favorites). i also read hans christen..."

I miss getting those little reading awards! Mostly because I would always win them ;)

Ʈʜэ MɐÐɲΣ§Ꭶ ᏊརƭᏲƗϞ (death_of_the_rebelz) As a child I did read many of the common fairy tales mentioned, but still to this day one of my book idols remains Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through The Looking Glass. I cannot really say now, this appreciation of the book outdates my critical mind and leaves me simply with my opinion of it.

When I was about five years old I read all the ever so slightly gruesome versions of the fairytales, like the version where the little mermaid's feet hurt so much every time she took a step but she still danced for the prince, and that sort of thing.

No wonder I'm such a strange person.

Same here!! Mine was by accident, however. I borrowed this book of fairytales from the library, not realising that it was a somewhat gruesome version - with tales like the one about Bluebeard and his wives (it even had an illustration of the room he put all the bodies in!!). That book was the cause of a few nightmares, to be sure!

L | 1252 comments When I was a child I had a habit of collecting books in a series, such as for instance Animal Ark by Lucy Daniels
Foals in the Field (Animal Ark, #24) by Lucy Daniels Kittens In The Kitchen by Lucy Daniels etc.
I loved reading about Mandy Hope and her best friend James Hunter's adventures!
