K | 1143 comments In my experience, they are not very welcoming of people like me who just do it as a hobby.

If you are a writer, what do you like to write about?

message 1402: by Sapphire (last edited Oct 30, 2014 03:03PM) (new)

Sapphire Purcell Adventure. Excitement. Action. I'm not especially sophisticated, so I just write about people in extraordinary situations doing extraordinary things.

Also, I'm sorry you've had some negative experience with writers. I've a number of friends who are hobbyist writers and aspire to nothing more than that. They're some of my favourite people to talk about writing with.

message 1403: by K (new)

K | 1143 comments Thanks Carl. I made the mistake of taking a class and everyone was so super intelligent and a bit snobby and they made me feel a bit stupid, so it killed my writing dreams a bit. Now, I never want to be published, I just write for myself.

message 1404: by K (new)

K | 1143 comments And I don't write near as much as I once did.

message 1405: by Neko (new)

Neko And the next question is? Carl, you forgot to say what it was.

message 1406: by K (new)

K | 1143 comments I just wanted to respond to Carl, Laura. He replied positively to my comment and wanted to thank him. Thank you, Carl.

Finish this sentence: kindness is_________?

message 1407: by Neko (new)

Neko (Yeah, I know, that's not a problem. But I'm just trying to keep this thread going on the right path so it doesn't go OT as it's rather easy to do..lol)

kindness is warm and fluffy.

What is one thing that you just can't stand?

message 1408: by Sapphire (new)

Sapphire Purcell Rudeness irks me in a major way. Even if you don't like somebody, you should still be polite and civil.

Sorry for forgetting the question last time. I'll remember this time...

How do you feel about more and more Australians celebrating Halloween?

A shame you had a bad experience Kiera, but sometimes another group can make all the difference and being ver supportive. Worth another try.

I find it bizarre Carl. Just came from hardware shop and supermarket and people were dressed as fairies and devils and such,
What is one thing that annoys you about readers?

message 1411: by Suz (new)

Suz | 4428 comments The issue comes up every year, I don't chose to do it and it wouldn't be my choice of a fun afternoon. But I hold nothing against those who do. Something tells me it will just keep going anyway!

What's a genre you never try but think you might consider soon?

message 1412: by Neko (new)

Neko Sci-Fi...If the right book came along I might just pick it up.

message 1413: by Suz (last edited Oct 30, 2014 07:10PM) (new)

Suz | 4428 comments I'll answer Laura's question and put Dale's question again!

We get that takeaway if I'm unorganised and it's too late after kids training etc. I try to rarely do it though ;) It's bad!

message 1416: by Neko (last edited Oct 30, 2014 07:16PM) (new)

Neko LOL..So many ppl responding quickly atm!

Readers...Well...I am one of those......I guess....hmm...Readers who will drop a book quickly...As in they won't venture to page 50 or even 100 and then go 'Nah, this is BAD'...I sometimes find a book can be very hard to warm too but when you push it a bit more you can see something amazing before you. And in saying that sometimes books are just crud too..

Do you have a friend/partner who writes?

Suz | 4428 comments In an awkward phase, yr 11, at a camp that had others staying there too, tripped over whilst running fast in front of a group of older boys. Still remember.

Any OCD traits in relation to books?!

Neko Will buy another if mine becomes really damaged for whatever reason. So, if I get a second hand and I want to keep it I will usually search for a new copy after reading the used one :|

Neko Emu

Strangest experience when holidaying?

message 1444: by ★ Jess (new)

★ Jess | 3071 comments Not really strange, but back in 2010 we had a 12 hour wait in the Kuala Lumpar airport between flights. We'd booked a room in the hotel there, but upon arrival we found they'd accidentally double booked it. As a way of apologising for the inconvenience, they offered us a complimentary stay in the presidential suite instead.
I shit you not the place was enormous, and the fanciest, classiest thing I'd ever seen, with something six or seven bedrooms and bathrooms that were as big as our living room at home.
It was so vast I went hours without seeing or hearing my family, would have loved more than 12 hours there.

Name and relation of the last person you received a text from?

message 1445: by Neko (new)

Neko Jessica and her relation my girlfriend.

★ Jess | 3071 comments yeah, sometimes I do :)

Do you have a favourite book title, and if so what is it?

message 1448: by Suz (new)

Suz | 4428 comments I've been thinking about this one but I really don't have a favourite, though I do like the title of my current read The Boy in the Book as it really is what the title states.

If you have a moment to read during the day even if you're meant to be doing something else, is it a given that you will read, or will you do the things that need to be done first?

message 1449: by Suz (new)

Suz | 4428 comments Last Sunday night, a bit annoying as our Jetstar flight was delayed twice then cancelled. It was a inrush and panic but eventually they opened a Virgin flight for only 1.5hrs later so could have been worse!

What is your favourite thing to do lately other than read?

message 1450: by Dale (new)

Dale Harcombe | 6882 comments Spend time with family. Of course if it was winter I would also have said watching AFL.
What are you most looking forward to this week?
