Suz | 4428 comments I knew no one would answer this one! Good question Sally. As it's my favourite thing to do here I'll answer.

Empty. I'd prefer if I was the other way but I'd be lying ;)

Do you know a lot of people who love reading?

message 1252: by Neko (new)

Neko Yeah, I guess I do.

Do you celebrate boxing day with friends?

message 1253: by [deleted user] (new)

Generally no, Boxing Day is spent at home with in a hammock, with a new book and a glass (or 2 or 3) of scotch and a snooze.

Most inspirational book or book character?

message 1254: by K (new)

K | 1143 comments Every book inspires me in some way, depending on where I am in my life and how I am feeling. My fairly recent discovery of classic authors such as Jane Austin and Charles Dickens- whom I never seemed to bother with before, has really changed the way I read, and expanded my horizons into WHAT I read. I didn't realize just how incredible they really are and my appetite for novels has never been so boundless. I just can't stop buying books! Lol.

Do you prefer Summer or winter or the more in-between seasons? I find myself being the odd one out when it comes to enjoying winter the most. What about yourselves?

message 1255: by Suz (new)

Suz | 4428 comments I'm summer without a doubt!

Book you just shake your head at, that everyone else loves??

message 1256: by K (new)

K | 1143 comments TWILIGHT, GODAMNIT!!! Lol. I HATE IT!

Books that have changed the way you view the world?

message 1257: by [deleted user] (new)

The Book Thief and The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas - together gave me a new perspective what it may have been like in Germany During the Second World War, for the average German. I read them consecutively.

To answer Suzanne's question - Shantaram - The biggest load of crap I have EVER read.

Is there a book that you changed your mind about on second reading or on reflection?

message 1258: by Sally906 (new)

Sally906 | 87 comments I changed my mind about Black Dog by Stephen Booth. Started to read it and did not enjoy it - Stephen was a friend and this was his first book - how could I tell him I didn't like it? Well I didn't, I just avoided the question and sat on it. A few months later a book group we both belonged to had it as their discussion book. So I started to read it again and this time was hooked from page one and it went on to be a 5 star read for me!!

Strawberry or chocolate topping on your ice cream :)

message 1259: by Neko (new)

Neko Neither (I really don't enjoy topping )

Have you made the switch to an e-reader and LIKED it more than original books?

message 1260: by K (new)

K | 1143 comments Depends on my mood. I like both, but most especially strawberry topping if it's made from fresh strawberries.

Do you own any pets?

message 1261: by [deleted user] (new)

I am going to Answer Laura's question first as it keeps getting missed :)

I use my iPad and iPone to read, I thought I never would, but the convenience of always having a book with me is addictive. I still like "real" books more though.

My family own 2 cats, I am allergic to cats, so work that one out???

What book have you always wanted to read, but never been brave enough to attempt?

message 1262: by Suz (new)

Suz | 4428 comments John I think the closest to this is Romeo and Juliet and The Canterbury Tales as an uninterested teen in high school, the thoughts provoked from that time of my life, not understanding a lot if it (esp. Chaucer) I'd be reluctant to even give it a go today!

Where was your last destination when you travelled by train?

message 1263: by [deleted user] (last edited Oct 16, 2014 04:00PM) (new)

Oh Suzanne please read Romeo and Juliet. It is Shakespeare's most beautiful play. It was the first Shakespeare I ever read and I re-read it regularly. I also have struggled with Canterbury Tales sometimes, can I suggest an audio version?

My last train trip was Florence to Rome in March this year.

What was the last movie you watched on dvd at home?

message 1284: by K (new)

K | 1143 comments Upside Down. It looked like such a fascinating story and it could have been wonderful, but the execution was terrible and so, so boring. :(
