American novel about a dojo owner living in France returns to the U.S. on a mission. 1970s paperpack, very well written but unmemorable apart from above and moment on a runway or freeway. Karate scenes well told.

It's part of a series, so I am not sure which book, but I know the main character (Jason Striker) and the authors (Piers Anthony and Roberto Fuentes).

I need to break away from my electronic devices and start reading them.

Here's the series, there are 5 or 6 books. In the first one he goes on a mission to Nicaragua. In the third one he goes to Cuba. The descriptions are not complete enough to say which book it is.
