That Katniss knows that injecting air into a vein can kill someone?? She mentions in school all they learn about is mining and Capitol history. How would she know this?? I just found this part very out of chracter

Yeah, she doesn't even know what CPR is.
Yeah, that is odd considering the fact that doctors are so rare where she's from that they have to rely on apothecary instead.But hey, I remember learning alot of pointless information in school too. lol, not like that's all they taught, but random facts just stick with me sometimes. Like how the average human head weighs 8lbs or how people lose an average of 100 hairs a day.
Maybe she just remembered a random fact from somewhere.
I think she knows this information from her mother.
it could also have been in one of the hunger games, theres bound to have been one or two parachutes with a syringe for medical purposes which turned into a weapon. and lord knows these kids learn how to kill by watching it.
You all have some good ideas, I didn't even connect it to her mom or the former games. That makes me feel a little better :)

I think it's just the kind of stuff, you learn, when you watch your mother do that to sick, dying people to provide them painless death...Yeah I just made that up, I don't know if she's actually doing that, but it is possible...
BUT I also remember katniss talking about how she stayed as far away and learned as little as possible about her mom's work...like, didn't peeta know more than her about wound care in the first book? so, I think that's a good point. it is a little odd...

Her mom is an apothecary, so she might know it. But i agree with you. Elisabeth Collins makes Katniss to a kind of charakter, that is (extremely) good at everything and knows way too much stuff, for someone, that spend their whole life in a subdued district where people have no rights.
