Bloodman
question
How many of you suspected who the killer was and if so, when?

I suspected early on who it was. I just thought that the author tried too hard to come up with a dark and disturbed character in Jake. He suffers from blackouts; and he was always having conversations with himself throughout the entire book. Also, why would he wait until the day of the hurricane to get his wife and son out of town? Any normal person would have packed them up as soon as they heard about it. Also, for someone who loves his family so much, he didn't even phone her telling her to NOT show up because a hurricane is going to hit. No mother would put her child in harm's way like that. I gave it 2 stars.

The family never felt real to me, more in his head so for me he was always the suspect in my mind, it was a definite by half way though.
I suspected when (spoiler!) the couple on the beach did not wave at his wife and son, and when he ordered pizza and they only delivered one. I have no idea why he included these pieces in the book; I can only suspect that they were intended as foreshadowing, but it was a bit obvious.l
I figured it out when we got the story of how he was found on the boat. After that, everytime he would get a shock from his pacemaker thing, someone would get killed, so I felt pretty good about my theory. Then Hauser pulled the gun and I figured I was wrong. I didn't catch all of the little hints early (like the waving couple on the beach and the pizza), but loved that he pointed them all out to us at the end so that we could see how he layed out the groundwork. Loved this book.
It was one of my guesses early on, but it finally sunk in when his father's agent was found dead.
I didn't get it until the story of how he was found was explained ... and even then, I didn't want to believe that he was the monster he was chasing. A little bit like Sixth Sense (which I absolutely adored) with the clues ... I just wasn't smart enough to latch onto them quick enough. I gave it 5 stars ...excellent book.
