Cool! You got the thread started. I hope you don't mind I took the liberty of adding the book title to the thread title, so other people can also know what we are reading.
if you guys can stick to 5-6 chapters a day, i'll be surprised...once I got into it, it went really quick ;)
Yes, 5-6 chapters a day sounds good. I'm about to read it right now. I think today I am going to read just the first 5. Unless you've read the 6th chapter already.

I finished reading up to Chapter 10 (it's already Tuesday where I am : ) ). They are pretty short chapters and they make for an easy read. The writing is pretty simple in my opinion. I think it helps that I have seen the movie. I have some images in my head now that matches what I'm reading. I don't let the minor differences between the book and the movie bother me.

i finished chapter 10 today(tuesday) too. Had to catch up because I tried reading the first 5 yesterday but I had a song running in my head and couldn't focus. But yes I agree, they are pretty short and simple chapters. I like the fact that the author mentioned himself in the book as a character. I've never read that before. Even the author description in the back of the book depicts him has the elder from Lorien.
Honestly I haven't seen the movie since it came out so the differences between the actors and the characters don't bother me much either, though I am planning on renting the movie again once we finish reading this.
It is definitely an easy read, but that commonly happens with YA fiction. :)
Well I don't know how far you've gotten, but I'm at the last four chapters and about to finish them now. I have this feeling that Bernie Kosar is like a dog from Lorien that was loaded into that rocket John was visualizing. Either that or Bernie Kosar is like one of the people that was boarding it too or he is one of the Elders. I don't know, but he definitely isn't a normal dog.
My reading stalled during the weekend, and it looks like I still have a 100 pages to go.I agree with your assessment with Bernie Kusar. I thought his character is a cute addition. I feel the romance angle is a little mushy and forced, but the storyline itself is intriguing enough that you want to keep on reading.
