I don't think that's true - first, it is mentioned nowhere - second, Nagini was not a Boa Constrictor, 3rd, voldemort always had Nagini beside him - not confined in a Zoo, 4th, Nagini is strong enough to get released from a Zoo by herself, she never need Harry to help her, 5th - THIS IS A VERY SILLY IDEA
Oh god... I just had a similar argument on another thread... Were you there Nasra, cz I haven't checked it since yesterday. Anyways, guys, Nagini is a Viper (or some other breed) whereas that was a Boa Constrictor who possibly left for Brazil or something... Also, Nagini is hell poisonous whereas the Boa wasn't. And Voldy had Nagini since long before Harry released that snake... I would like the link of the interview where JKR said that.
I actually heard that it was a lie...Cause the snake on the 1st book was a Boa Constrictor and Nagini wasn't.
Sorry Nasra but that just doesn't add up, i'd check your sources, i think you're mistaken.
Actually.. no i didn't know that.. I certainly didn't expect it either.. if it was - which I'm not doubting I'm jsut saying - if it was then it would definatly put a new meaning to 'it's a small world'. But wouldn't you think that Nagini would of known Harry or something and tried to attack him.. or something like that.
Based on the difference in breed I'm inclined to agree with the naysayers (the polite ones) but to those naysayers I'd like to say that I don't remember knowing how long Voldemorte actually had the snake. I mean, he's been a non-corporeal floating spirit until he just happened to bump into one professor over the summer. How would he even have kept pets if all he did was list around in the woods in albania? Why has he had her forever? It seems to me that a snake freed shortly before or after Voldy got his first flunky in years WOULD be a good new pet for him.
I know he said the snakes of albania listened to him of course, I just never got the impression that that's where nagini came from.

No this isn't true. They are different types of snake for one and Nagini's a horcrux so was obviously with him a long time.http://divaliciouzbookreviews.blogspo...

But nagini was a horcrux, hence the having to destroy her, so he must have had her prior to his first demise in order to have split his soul. I don't know where he left her though whilst he was gone but i doubt it was the zoo. She probably looked after herself, she is one scary ass snake after all!
P.s Who was being impolite?

So all the horcruxes were made first? He didn't make any after he came back? I realized he had a goal number but that doesn't definitely mean he succeeded. I'm just play devil's advocate of course, I don't disbelieve your point lol.
I'm also enjoying imagining what Nagini was doing the whole time Voldemort had no body.
My impression was that as the horcruxes were made in case he was killed and that they were all made before the night he tried to kill Harry, Harry being the last horcrux.
Maybe Nagini lived in the forest around hogwarts! even in first year that was off bounds to students because of it being so dangerous

Both snakes characters were played by the same snake in the movies, but they are two different species in the books.

Whoa! Thats so cool! I didn't even know that they had snake actors!
Lol, they have actors! :) of course they do, not like they get paid though
Wow, I did not know that! But, one question, why did the snake, if it was Nagini, say that it was going to Brazil?
Ezra wrote: "Wow, I did not know that! But, one question, why did the snake, if it was Nagini, say that it was going to Brazil?"It's not.
The snake in the zoo was a python, so not venomous. Nagini had venom: in the fourth book Voldemort has to drink it to stay alive. Therefore the snake Harry released from the zoo is not Nagini.
ok so we're all agreeing that Nagini wasn't the snake in the first book.....all righty then haha....i just couldn't see that making sense at all...my own mother, who has only seen the movies and won't read the books, even noticed that they aren't the same snake...which is kinda saying something cuz she never pays attention to details very much haha
False! This is so not true, Nagini is no where near the same breed as that snake heading to Brazil, and personally I think Harry would have recognized him.
Nope, that's just a rumor floating around. The snake released was male, Nagini is female and they are both different snakes.
Idk anymore, I heard that JK Rowling said this, but I don't know if that's a rumor. Personally I believed it.
No, the snake in the first book spoke in parseltongue too, just Harry didn't know as he can't tell the difference between the sound of parseltongue and of English. In book 2, at the dueling club, Harry talks to the conjured snake, then is surprised that no one else could understand him, he thought he was talking to the snake in English. Also, in book 6, when Dumbledore took Harry into the pensive to see the Gaunts, one of the Gaunts spoke in parseltongue and at first Harry thought he was talking to Dumbledore and himself because he couldn't tell the difference, but he was talking to a snake.
Nasra wrote: "I just found out that the snake Harry released in book 1 turned out to be Nagini. Did anybody else know this!?"............
yes.
All snakes speak parseltongue, it's the language of snakes. Seriously. They are not the same snakes. They are two different genders.
Why do people not read the rest of the posts instead of reading the question coming in and answering 'yes i knew that'? well no you didn't because as we have said a hundred times it was a rumour that couldn't be true, makes no sense and that JK didn't actaully say.

Like that in the books.
