Countdown to TWISTED!

Thanks Anna! I hope you'll enjoy TWISTED. I've got a preview posted on my Web site and there's one in the back of UNSTOPPABLE. Preview: http://www.lauragriffin.com/books/twi...

Thanks so much, Jane! I was thrilled to get a "Top Pick"!

Yay! I love mother-daughter book recs. My mom is always pointing me to new authors because she knows what I like.
I hope both of you will enjoy TWISTED! Thanks for reading SNAPPED.

Thank you, Sarah! I hope you will like TWISTED. Mark Wolfe was an interesting character to write. To research the character I read a lot of books by criminal profilers. Interesting stuff.

I appreciate that, Margaret :) I always like a mystery better when there's at least a hint of a romance. To me, it adds to the tension.

I love Gage, too! I just finished edits for Gage & Kelsey's full-length book, SCORCHED, which comes out this fall. Didn't get to finish telling their story in the novella, so they're coming back.
Becs wrote: "Hey Laura - I'm very much looking forward to Twisted. I really enjoyed the novella from Deadly Promises. I kind of wished we had gotten to see more of Kelsey and Gage. I loved Gage."

Authors amaze the heck out of me. How you can have so many places, places and stories are a mystery in itself to me. I just appreciate that I can get 'lost' in the stories. I get "lost' very well in your books. :)

Hi, Anna. I totally agree with you.
Pat
I'm so glad to hear that! Nothing like getting "lost" in a good book. One of my very favorite things!
I hope you'll enjoy TWISTED.
Patricia wrote: "Thank you for inviting me to join the group! As you know, I LOVE your books and really appreciate you sharing your talent with us. I am excited about Twisted coming out soon.

Hi Rachel, Delighted to hear that you stumbled on me by accident! It was fun writing SURRENDER and GUNS AND ROSES, and I've been happy to meet some new readers through those short stories. Hope you will like UNTRACEABLE!

Hi Hannah, I think you've set a WHISPER OF WARNING record ;) So happy you liked Courtney's story. Hope you'll enjoy UNSTOPPABLE, too. Those characters will be back for more in SCORCHED coming this fall.
Hannah wrote: "I just ordered Unstoppable and can't wait to start it but I have to finish my 50th re-read of Whisper of Warning first. I love that book so much! lol Can't wait for Twisted!"

Haha... (Julie James is the only other author I've read as much) I just love Will/Courtney. One of my all time fave romance couples. :)
Oh and congrats on the Top Pick by RT. I saw their review when I got the magazine last week and it made me even more excited for TWISTED to come out!
Thanks, Connie! I hope you'll like TWISTED, too.

Sorry for all the questions. I am excited and love you books!
I love getting questions, Kristy! About Kelsey & Gage's storyline: they meet for the first time in UNSTOPPABLE (the Tracers novella). Kelsey is a secondary character in the next few Tracers books, while Gage is off doing his Navy SEAL thing. Their relationship hits a stumbling block (in TWISTED) and so the next book, SCORCHED, focuses on Kelsey & Gage as they face an entirely new adventure together. There's a preview for SCORCHED at the back of TWISTED.
Kristy wrote: "Wow. I love this series but I thought Twisted came out in may or June. This is even better now I have something to look forward to this month. I am excited for Kelcey and Gage in Scorched but am wo..."

I'm excited, too, Farah! I've loved writing this series.

I definitely like romance in my books which is why it's called romantic suspense!
I also love your cohorts at murder she writes.
Now, here is my problem. You all write series, which I love but there is catch up for next book, at least for me. So, if I re-read Snapped, am I good for Twisted?
I was lucky, although poor Borders wasn't, and I discovered your books. So, I read them in order over a week. No catch up needed!
I like the idea of discussing books in a group where the author is involved. The other thing is that I cbeck this site every day.
Thanks for starting it. I am psyched!
Great questions, Marijane. A lot of people want to know if you can jump right into the Tracers series. Yes!! Each book has a stand-alone mystery plot and focuses on a different romantic couple. So, you don't have to read the books in order, although some people like to because the characters come in and out.
Allison Doyle from TWISTED, for example, first appeared in SNAPPED. But you don't need to read the books in order if you prefer to skip around (I do. That's why I wrote it so people can plunge right in wherever). Hope you like TWISTED!

My screen was jumping all around, up and down, couldn't control it. Then I thought....oh...it's just Laura causing a ruckus with her excitement...and MINE because your book will be out in 14 days!!! It must be so exciting getting such an honor from the RT.
Have a great weekend!
Pat
Thanks so much, Pat! I was very excited about the RT review. I hope readers will connect with the story, too. Have a great weekend!

So glad you're enjoying the stories, BJ! I hear that feedback a lot regarding short stories :) With UNSTOPPABLE, I am happy to tell you that the main characters, Kelsey & Gage, have their own full-length book coming out in the fall, entitled SCORCHED. Thanks for reading and I hope you like TWISTED.

I'm glad, too. I felt like I had more story to tell about those two.

Hi Sarah,
Good question! Yes, the body farm in central Texas helped spark the idea. I wanted the fictional Delphi Center crime lab to include both a body farm and a forensic lab on par with the FBI lab at Quantico, VA. I made it a private crime lab so that my characters have a bit more flexibility in the stories. Also, many law enforcement people I've met say their own crime labs are limited by budget constraints, so I wanted the Delphi Center to have private funding so they can showcase what is at the cutting edge of forensic science.
Sarah wrote: "I have to agree about Gage and Kelsey. I look forward to reading Scorched.

Hi Margaret,
Almost always, the character comes first. I might have a vague idea of some of the story events, but what I really develop first is the character--everything about the character's job, personal beliefs, background. Once you know your characters, the story & plot start to really take shape.
Margaret wrote: "I am following this thread closely Laura and here is the question I have to ask, don't see it on this discussion. Do you pick the character first or the story. I believe you know what I mean. Do yo..."

TWISTED comes out in a few days! I'm hanging out this week talking with readers about the book and the Tracers series.
So excited about this new review from Fresh Fiction: "Fascinating and compelling... kept me guessing until the very end."
To celebrate the release I'm giving away a $50 Amazon card and a signed copy of the book on my web site: http://www.lauragriffin.com/contest.php

Plus, Amazon has a great deal on paperbacks all of the time. If you buy 4 books, you get 1 free. Since I am a Prime member, I receive my books in 2 days.
What I am saying, and not well, is that I will have Twisted on Thursday!!

Can not wait for Scorched! :)
Awesome, Marijane! I love a good deal on books. I hope you will enjoy TWISTED when it shows up on your doorstep. Thank you for reading!

What a wonderful note, Wendy. I secretly love it when readers tell me they cry-- because I want them to feel the emotion of the characters. Thank you so much for reading! I hope you will like SCORCHED this fall.

Hi Anne,
You are right! It was retitled. So, the excerpt says BURNED, but the book is officially called SCORCHED. I'm hoping to see a cover soon and I can guarantee it will have the right title!

Thank you so much, Manda! I really appreciate your taking the time to read and review TWISTED. Thanks for sharing!
The main characters are detective Allison Doyle and FBI profiler Mark Wolfe.
