Last year my goal was 150 & I read 167. This year, due to more than few really intense freaking classes I'm taking this semester & next, I lowered my goal to 125. So far I've read 47 of 125-& I have no idea how the hell I've managed to pull that off. Scratch that. I do. I go to bed at 3 am & go to class most days on 5 hours of sleep. I'm gonna burn out eventually but I gots to feed my reading addiction & the only way possible is late into the night.

I'm doing better this year than last year. By the end of March, I managed to finish 25 books (and one short story). By this time last year, I'd only read 15 books. However, later I picked up the slack and surpassed my reading goal. :)25 of 65 is 38% and I'm ahead of my pace by 9 books. Since I tend to slack off around the holidays, this is good.
February was a bad month...workwise, which slowed me down and GR left me those little "You're X books behind..." love notes. Like being ahead now! Knowing this year was/is going to be busy, I picked 144 as my magic number (250 last year). LOL...the house IS cleaner, and I'm savoring my books more. Though, I wish I could justify more reading time as there are SO MANY books I want to finally get to!
As of today, 38/144, and 1% or 2 books ahead. :)

Well this year I'm at 116 of 400 (4% ahead). Last year my goal was 450 and I made it to 452, but it was just a tad stressful towards the end of the year so I scaled back this time :)

Last year, I got to 183 but I thought that this year, what with my work load increasing I should not stress myself out too much so I went for 150. It's going swimmingly so far :)
WTG, everyone! I prefer the "challenge" to be a fun way to track the number of books I read in a year, not a race to the finish, so to speak. So, I didn't increase my yearly goal even though I read a little over my 2011 goal.
Completely agree, Steph! Whilst I love challenges and don't mind doing a few, I prefer reading to suit my moods and end up enjoying the book so much more :)
I've read 96 books for my goal of 300 this year. And Goodreads is kind enough to tell me that I'm 22 books ahead or 7%. It's a nice tool to help you make your goal but it does feel kind of bossy and pushy. :)
This year, I've been joining less challenges. I still enjoy them, I just don't have time or energy to fill them in and then stick to them right now. I'm enjoying a bunch of yearlies though, they are suitin' my schedule best right now.LOL! That it can, Barbara.
Not doing well too far, kept up for the first quarter but now I'm falling behind. 22/100 at the moment, I'm 7 books behind.
Sounds crazy Jeann, but I got more than 10 books behind last year and still made it past 450, so 100, I know you can do it!!!! Rah, rah, rah!!!!

So far, I've read a boatload of books this year. Many of which have been shorts or purely for the-smut-of-it, but still a book's a book, yah? I'm blessed with seeing a "Awesome, you're 41 books (20%) ahead of schedule!" message instead of "Pick up the pace, slacker!" LOL! Cuz' damn, but that gets annoying quickly.
I've no doubt that my #s will slack off eventually, so the extra now will be buffer for then. ;) But, I may raise my goal mid-year, if I'm still way ahead.
