The Shining
question
Do you like to scare. . .??? Stories.

Who that is a reader of the genre likes to scare with stories or ideas as well??
I like to take something new and make it evil but have good overcome it. . . though John Carpenter (a movie-maker/director) who makes horror into film believes evil can never die, I am convicted it will, or at least there is a way for it to hide from the purely good (God).
What are your takes on writing?? Do you write the craft or want to be a writer in the genre?
Maybe suspense??
I am working on a loose idea (that went crazy last night!_) and ended up tearing thru a lot of index cards. . . it was an existing horror story.
I hope it will maybe become something for fun! And it would be frightening.
How do you, writers. . . "Scare?"
Even if you don't write just write anything you feel should be about this topic.
Your views. . . what scares you and would you make it into a scary story??
Let's go! :D

The unknown scares everyone. Ghosts, death, life after death,& any & everything inbetween.
What usually scares me quite a bit is a change of personality in characters or animals. And by this I mean the normally innocent, uncorrupted-children, pets(esp. if it's a loved pet gone haywire).
As Crystal said, it's basically the unknown. Creating the impression that something is lurking, and never giving out the full description of it. I find the most engaging books or stories provide the bare bones, or a couple of elements, then make the thing 'sound' scary-that way your subconscious fills it with whatever's scarier for you.
