First off, it's a softcover children's picture book about safety. From what I remember, it's got a square shape. The illustrations inside are all in colour and have a realistic cartoon-like style. All the characters are realistic looking adults and children.
I don't know the publishing date, but I remember having it when I was fairly young, so sometime during the early to mid '90s (and the book I owned was brand-new).
The safety lessons inside ranged in topics and each topic would have a short scenario with the main lesson summarized in a single sentence at the end of each scenario. The sentence was written all in caps in a red font.
Some of the safety lessons are, but are not limited to: wearing a life jacket on a boat, wearing a seat belt in the car, not playing with matches, not getting into the things underneath the kitchen sink, not opening the door for strangers when home alone, wearing bright clothes when out walking at night, not staying on the beach during a lightning/thunder storm, and other things.
One last thing I remember is one of the illustrations for the 'not opening the door for strangers when home alone' lesson because it used to scare me: There was a young girl (possibly a blond) who is standing in a dark-coloured living/family room looking at the front door and looking scared. There is a shadow at the door who seems to be knocking.
At either the end or the beginning of the book (most likely the end though) there's a page dedicated to the owner of the book writing down their personal information and emergency contact information and things of that nature.
So if anyone knows what book this please let me know. This has been bothering me for years.
