I think Bitterblue brings character and deepens the characters of characters in Graceling - when she enters the scene, Katsa becomes more three-dimensional with her around. She looks after Bitterblue, makes sacrifices in order to save and help her...not to mention how strong, brave and knowledgable Bitterblue is for such a young child!

Your thoughts?!

Olivia (olivia1395) | 1948 comments I agree completely! Bitterblue is the reason I came to like Katsa! If it weren't for Bitterblue I think I would have mixed feelings about Katsa but BItterblue gives Katsa what she needs to become an amazing character, one I enjoy reading about. Bitterblue is, in my opinion, the most important character in the book, aside from Katsa of course. Bitterblue is amazing:)

She is! I can't wait to read the next book where she is the main protagonist!

Olivia (olivia1395) | 1948 comments I know! I am so excited to read it! I plan to get it as soon as possible! I don't know how much longer I can wait!

Kate bitterblue makes katsa grow up somewhat. she actually acts like an adult when she is protecting bitterblue

Agreed! :)
Bitterblue really gave the rest of the characters depth. I was really amazed by her intelligence and strength, especially when everything around her was going crazy! She is a brilliant character and she holds up not only her kingdom, but the book and other characters too. A true Queen.
