Harry Potter. This is coming from someone who read and actually did in enjoy the Twilight series. It's something that I've been saying ever since I started the Twilight series...they're great reads and all...but you read them for the guilty pleasure sappiness that everyone gets sucked into...Harry Potter started as a fantasy kids book...but turned into something much more. JK Rowling is hands down the better author.

Oh cool, because I actually thought the wolfpack was well casted in some of the movies (the later ones).
But yeah, the books win out and the movies pale in comparison.

Harry Potter! It's an epic story that was actually well written. I was a skeptic when I started them and cried when Dumbledore died.

Even Stephen King thinks Stephenie Meyer can't write. When a skilled author like king says this, I will believe this 100%. Harry Potter.

How many people are weird enough to write Twilight, there is no contest and Harry Potter outstrips any book you compare it with. Don't get me wrong, I do like Twilight but Harry Potter is original. Everybody has heard of hot vampires posing as irreplaceable boyfriends. And everybody has heard of two people fighting over the same person. You can find all of that in Skulduggery Pleasant. I'm sorry, but I'm with team Hogwarts.

It's true, and this is coming from a former Twilight lover. Once I read Harry Potter, I realized how much was wrong with the Twilight books. I mean, Bella wouldn't even agree to marry Edward unless he agreed to have sex with her. WTF. And both Edward and Jacob are overcontrolling about her life. It's just....*FACEPALM*
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to reread the Harry Potter series. :)

Harry Potter but it is not the best book out of the one's I have read

I love them both, they both have it all: love story, reluctant hero, conflicting emotions, adventure, suspense, unrequainted love, parenting tragisties, death, distruction, evil ruling bodies, repression, unsuspected/hidden abilities, self-sacrafice and I could go on and on...but HP is the better of the two series :)
Pfft don't EVEN try to disgrace Harry Potter by trying to compare Rowling's Beautiful series with Twilight! (:

Come on guys, why is this even a question? Harry all the way! Not least for the amazing sense of humour J.K has! I don't hate Twilight at all and have read all four books but they don't compare in any way shape or form.

No they are just different both wonderful and take you away into another world. However the characters are stronger in Harry Potter and that's probably why you feel so loyal to them they are like your friends. Debbie Hope x

That's what I'm wondering....
Both are boring in many ways, I mean I enjoyed the wolves in the Twilight saga, and then only that. I'm one of the few who's not really into Harry Potter. I just think it's okay. It lacks liveliness and bubbliness. Which is why they're definitely not my favorite series in the world.

There is no competition. Harry Potter is a better written story and not saying that I hate Twilight, but all the bad romance suffocated me; There was just too much! Harry Potter had romance, adventure, mystery, fantasy, etc. Plus the characters were much better developed. When Harry seen Ginny kissing Dean, he didn't go curl up on the forest floor or jump off a cliff! It might not be the exact same situation, but close enough! Twilight was a good read, but there is no way that it can get to the Harry Potter level.
I liked the Harry Potter movie... it's just not my favorite. No one get offended at that, it's my opinion.
I'm a die hard Romance fan and even I say HARRY POTTER.you can't even allow Twilight to be in the same typing space :/
This is a really interesting discussion. It looks like Harry Potter is winning hands down apart from Animal Disney Reader who likes Narnia. I like C S Lewis too although I'd class that series as period fantasy contemporary. I've written a fantasy novel too it's in author's corner but I am not vain enough to pretend it is in the same class as these fabulous works. Debbie Hope x
wow, same here but mine was written back in my elementary days .. haha i really love writing novels but i stopped writing when i got pregnant til now :(there's no way on earth would twilight win against HP .. no offense meant twilight fans
Um, why are these two even in the same vs category? Is it because teens and tweens have read them both?? I've read both series and enjoyed reading both but they do not belong in the same vs category. They aren't even in the same genre of books. Harry being Fantasy and Twilight being, err, Romance I guess. But to please whomever started the topic, Potter hands down, no competition.

Yeah, if you had to take one set to a dessert island it would be Harry Potter easily but you would have days were you missed Twilight all the same.

Harry Potter. No contest. Twilight's not even on the same level.
Harry Potter is just so much better, it has a much deeper message than twilight does, Harry Potter's message is that love conquers all and good vs evil, I read all the twilight books and there really isn't one evil that they're trying to fight throughout the whole book, that's the main reason I like Harry Potter better, also Twilight is way to cliche for me. People in books usually pick horrible boyfriends, the same goes for Bella, if you guys haven't realized, Edward is a total stalker. He WATCHES HER SLEEP! For crying out loud! This is so creepy, why doesn't she just do herself a favor and move in at the beginning of the series with that baseball player boyfriend of her mom's. She doesn't want to go to Forks but she does anyway! Bella is a depressing main character that is terrible to read about and doesn't have any real problems so she creates them for herself. Also Twilight has no strong female characters besides Alice, and she isn't even super important, in Harry Potter, Harry and Ron would have died countless times without Hermione, while Bella puts herself in harms way for boys, this series is terrible and Harry Potter wins.
Why do people continue to ask this question? They aren't even in the same genres. Plus any chance that Twilight ever had to win was ruined but the movies. The directors did a shit job. Harry Potter got more fame as the movies came out. But Twilight's rep has been ruined. This question needs to stop being asked. Everyone knows Harry Potter fans will win.
