It goes to show that persistence pays off! Congratulations Stormhawk! PS, business casual means slacks and nice shirts, no tennis shoes (But not necessarily dressy heels!) Of course in a business casual environment you can dress better and still be ok. Best of luck with all that shopping!
I haven't been reading as much because I broke my glasses. Just finished Lone Survivor about a SEAL team lost in Afghanistan. Really a fantastic book. I made time to read that book. It was so good I read a good part of it in one afternoon. Read my review.
Too much time working on my own writing and riding the bike. There's just never enough time anymore.
Yeah I can get to that. I am playing guitar a good part of the day, taking care of my Mom who is on Dialysis. But however busy I get. I always read at bedtime for an hour or so.
Today was my first day at the new job. It was orientation, which means that about a dozen people from different disciplines came in and explained policies. Nice bonus, they provided a morning snack and lunch. I have my first "real" day tomorrow, in my actual department.
Stormhawk,Congrats! Now maybe I stand a chance of catching up. Naw, who am I fooling? Have a great day tomorrow!

But I have a pretty decent reason.
I have spent nearly all of the past year unemployed.
But some stuff has happened recently.
I had submitted an online application for part time work.
Didn't hear anything.
I'm getting used to that. You submit, you don't get anything back, unless there's an automatic confirmation from the website.
But then, I got this phone call ... would you be willing to consider a full time position?
Oh yeah, sure, full time would be okay. I had been considering the part time, although it's not what I needed, as a means of getting a foot in the door.
So an interview was scheduled. It consisted of me mainly saying, "Yes, I've done that. Yes, I have experience in that. Yes, I would be interested in learning to do that."
Two days later, I get another phone call ... Could I come in for a second interview with some additional people in the department?
Oh, yeah.
So I have the second interview, get shown around the department, introduced to people as a prospective hire, and tell a second person, "Yeah, I've done that. A lot."
Then I didn't hear anything.
They were probably interview a ton of people.
I don't really know. But it was just over a week later when I got a phone call ... not only was I offered the position, they actually created a job title for me.
I've been doing all kinds of paperwork since then, and I need an entirely new wardrobe. I have always been able to wear jeans, tee-shirts, and sneakers to work. Not this place. Business Casual. I don't even know for sure what that means, but I know there isn't much in my closet that fits neatly into that category.
So, I have to go shopping again.
