The reason I'm wondering is because those would be the type of books I would like to read even though Mass Effect is a video game. My brother has played all three of them and I just love the story, characters, etc. In the third one you can have an affair with a man. I was like yayyy. Anyway...

So I'm assuming you like the theme of "humans fighting off alien invasion"? Or is it something different than that? Here are some books off the top of my head that might interest you:
Gravitational Attraction (especially the first part)
there's a series about exploring planets and working from a space station by Stevie Woods, but it doesn't have much fighting in it.
if you like the A.I. part and fighting, the Pact Arcanum series by Arshad Ahsanuddin might interest you, plus it has intrigue and it's a paranormal sci-fi cross.

Hi Dustin - my son's played through all three now and also tried one of the books. Loved the games (and I would sit and watch him play, so I know where he's coming from - fabulous stuff) but he HATED the one book he read.In his words "A seventh grader could write better dialogue and description."
Ha ha! I just realized you moved this topic from the off topic so I got confused where it went to. I do like humans fighting alien invasion type of stuff so I will check those books out. Hopefully they're in paperback since I don't have an e-reader.@ Angel - I didn't even know Mass Effect had books. I just knew about the games. I'm not much into shooters, but I really loved the story in the games, like I said.

I know you can get the Kindle reader for free on your computer. If you get Calibre (also free) you can convert other formats so the Kindle reader can read them. Most M/M books aren't available in paper, so it is pretty limiting to only read DTBs.

Oh okay. That's interesting to know. It's just I can't read on my computer for very long because then I start to get dizzy from the screen, but thanks for the info.
I love Mass Effect! I'm currently playing the third one and trying to woo Kaiden Alenko but no such look as of yet.
My brother has the game guide for Mass Effect 3. He's playing as the male character. As a male character you can have a relationship with the male pilot, but he hasn't gone that far yet. I think he wants to have a relationship with Miranda or something first. I'm guessing that you're playing as the female Shepard, David since that's the only way you could have a relationship with him lol.My brother loves Dragon Age as well, however, his PS3 died on him and it had all of his achievements and whatnot from the game and he was going to use that for Dragon Age 2. Now he has to start all over again. When that will be I have no clue since he keeps buying games lol
Oh, to clarify, Kaiden *is* the gay love interest. Haven't played ME3 yet, but wiki it to see.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBa1IX...
:) (should be obvious, but jic, some spoilery in the vid).
Really? I thought it was supposed to be with the Cortez dude. Hmm...I guess my brother has to choose to keep Kaidan alive next time he plays the trilogy.
I meant to add this one in to my earlier post re: recommendations (tried doing too many things at once):

Oh, yes, I've had my eye on these for a while - have you read them, Dustin?
Sadly no. I just checked them out and they're only in e-reader format. I want paperback. Wahhhh! I like holding books in my hands. Oh well.

Interesting vid but weird to have that guy giggling all the way through. Kinda off putting really.
I'd never heard of this until my son was rambling on about how great it is the other day.
Sorry I know! I moved it again, back to Off-topic. But it turned into gaming geeking. I should not be surprised. LOL
:D
:D
Ha ha! That's why I put it in off-topic. I had a feeling it would go to that degree of discussion lol. Too funny.
Dustin you're just going to have to break down and get an e-reader with e-ink. Those are pretty easy on the eyes. A used or refurbished one can probably be had for pretty cheap. woot.com sometimes has something available.
Besides Mass Effects, has anyone here played or watched Borderlands being played?
OMG, one of the bad guys is gay and his "guy-irlfriend, Chad-ina", is "totally awesome". Most of the random dialog is exchanged over the radio. He's trying (not) to be in the closet, so the dialog is pseudo-subtle. Kinda funny. (view spoiler)

It's an FPS; it's not nearly as much of an interactive or broad story as Mass Effects. A colony on the planet Pandora has been abandoned by the sponsoring corporation, so everything has gone to hell. There's a mysterious Vault that you're trying to get to and you have to get through a ton Mad Max-type crazies.

I'm curious about it. I mean, romance is secondary in the games, the SF is the real story, so I don't supposed they mind putting sinister elements into even the love scenes.
Wannaplaywannaplay, but have to wait until my workload slows down...

Its the guy who posted the vid laughing and snickering every time the guys get intimate.

Far out. I'd have thought the audio was internal. I.e., recorded direct from the device so that you wouldn't hear the ambient. I'd have never considered that. :/ That sux. I liked my explanation better. :(
ME3 has 2 possible gay male love interests: Kaiden and Cortez. You can play either one if Kaiden is still alive in the third game. Obviously, if you let him die at Virmire, that option is closed, and you'd have to start a new game to play that scenario out.I think I remember reading once that if you play a female Shepard, you actually CAN have a relationship with Joker, in ME1 at least, but I haven't verified that.
Love Mass Effect and Dragon Age. FYI, Kaiden was intended to be a possible gay love interest in the first game, but they pulled the content due to some sort of protest stirred up by Fox News (or so I've been told). There are mods that will allow you to romance him as a male in ME1, however, although since the dialog was never voiced some of it is only available as subtitles (which weren't removed from the final version of the game but can be accessed with the mod). The cool thing is that Bioware chose to acknowledge this in ME3, and put in dialog, etc. for a previously-romanced male Shep.
