The novel frequently changes narrative perspective. How does this transition shape your reading of the novel and your connection to the characters and the circus? Why do you think the author chose to tell the story from varied perspectives?

I liked the fact that it switched between characters; however, I didn't feel that any of the characters truly came to life. They all seemed one dimensional to me. I wish that they had seemed like real people, but they didn't. They felt . . .I don't know. Empty, somehow.

I agree 100%! I like seeing things from the perspective of different characters, but these characters were so underdeveloped or strangely developed that I felt as though it didn't matter who was telling the story. If there had been more emotion in the characters then maybe it would have been more effective.
