I'm a voracious reader (horror and sci fi as of late) and got an invitation to join here from Dustin.

Love the challenges! A much better idea than just choosing a book for everyone to read. I can never get into those types of "group read" things (except in the Manhattan Club). ;)

The only celeb I've ever met happens to be a horror writer though. I'm from Maine, and Stephen King came to talk to the writer's club at my school. There were like 6 of us. Never been a fan of his, and I didn't pretend I was. I mostly just asked questions about publication. hehe

They are different. The books are very good, but with the show they have changed the characters quite a bit from described in the books. There have been several discussion topics in Tess Gerritsen Fans talking about this - they are both really good, but some fans have trouble separating the show and the books - they get upset that the show isn't "by the book".

Hey, there I am Josh. I dont know what to really say. I love to read. I am sometimes slow with reading but I do love it! I read just about any genre in fiction. Horror, action, romance, just about anything. I dont much care for nonfiction books.

I write a little as well. I have a story that I posted on devaiantart. It isn't super best cause a friend challenged me to write a short story in 2 hours, which I did. I think it is decent for only being a 2 hour long project but I kinda want to go back and fix what I dont like about it. But anyways, I write a little. I want to write more but it does become time consuming and I have other responsibilities.

I am male and 21 turning 22 soon. If you are curious I am the guy in the grey shirt next to Nicholas Sparks (author), in my display picture.

Yeah. That was a fun day. Granted its an old picture now. I met him about 2 years ago. My friend Damion is right beside me. We traveled from Charlotte, NC to Atlanta, GA to meet him because we could not go to the local signing he did. Pretty much everything went smoothly on the trip down but when we were there, my friend wanted to walk to the bank to deposit a check after we bought the books. So we decided to leave the books in his truck. We had locked the doors, and when I closed my door, he had just remember he left his keys in the truck. So we locked yourselves out of the truck and the books in the truck BEFORE the signing began. We went to all the stores around before we found someone that had a wire hanger so we could BREAK into my friend's own truck before the book signing began. After 15 minutes and people staring at us... one person actually asked did we lock ourselves out the the truck. XD We did unlock the truck and ran to the signing because we found out Sparks started it early so we we almost late for our lines. We got our books signed and got the picture taken and met him and all that good stuff. He is a really great guy. We then left to FINALLY drive to the bank... we were paranoid about locking ourselves out again. So he deposited his check in the bank, we got dinner, then we headed to the gas station to fill his tank up when Damion remembers he left his bank card in the machine.... If I recall we ended up only having $10 all together and we had make the trip back to Charlotte, NC on $10 worth of gas. We prayed that we would make it all the way to Charlotte on the money and hightailed it. We made it back in one piece. But it was one "great day". We felt we had accomplished a HUGE task that day. It was fun. Damion is the guy in the backwards baseball cap and blue shirt in the picture.

I didn't your reply until today. It does make for a great story to tell people. Damion gets embarrassed when I told people when he was around. I did forget to mention the day after I put the photo on facebook and shared it on Sparks's page, he actually put the photo up as his display picture for about a week. It felt so awesome. I posted the entire story one the caption of the picture, I really hope he read it.

I have not read Firestarter. To be truthful, I've only read half of one Stephen King book, that being The Gunslinger.

I tried to read the Shining, BUT because my high school was making Freshmen take computer tests on a very limited number of books we could choose from, I felt it was forced on me and never got past the first 20 pages. I was pissed about that. At the time I wanted to read all the Hannibal Lector books. I ended up only reading Hannibal Rising and reading A Hundred pages out of Red Dragon before getting fed up with reading period in my freshman year of high school. I plan on rereading Hannibal Rising so I can get into the rest of the books in the near future.
