Kim-Lost-In-A-Book lol I prefer real cameras :-)

So I'm currently in London but we scheduled the movers today we're going back to the US :-) Back to Vegas even if temporarily. We may even be home for Thanksgiving ♥

Carol (goodreadscomcarolann) | 214 comments My sister-in-law and family live in Vegas (Not too far from Red Rock Canyon.) It's a beautiful place to live but we find it a challenge to adjust to the dry air. We try visiting as often as possible. Kim I hope you & the family have a safe trip back and in time for Thanksgiving!

I still have my old 'real' camera from college+. I also have digital cameras and an iPhone. I really don't miss developing my film, working with chemicals and living in a dark room. But if I went back to black and white photography I think I would have to find or set up a darkroom, which is really expensive and time consuming.

Question: Is a photograph a "work of art" if it produced with a SLR (single lens reflex) camera or a digital/ iPhone camera?

Thats sounds amazing! I so want to visit someday. Maybe when I become a famous fashion designer ;)

Thats a good question.........

Carol (goodreadscomcarolann) | 214 comments If someone was coming to visit London what would you suggest what they should see/ do? (like a 7-10 day stay.)

Kim-Lost-In-A-Book Thanks Carol - I absolutely loved living in Vegas! It did take a while to adjust to the dry air though, so I understand.

oh wow in London there is so much to see. So many free museums. Shows. A day trip to Stonehenge.
The London Eye. the palaces, there is a building you can walk across the roof of now - I can't remember the name of it. A river cruise on the Thames. Kew Gardens.

What do you typically like to do when you're visiting new cities?

Kim-Lost-In-A-Book I would consider the photograph a work of art if it is an artistic photo if that makes sense lol.

message 163: by Carol (new)

Carol (goodreadscomcarolann) | 214 comments That makes sense!

Depends --I would love to go to sooo many places ---I love art museums (so British museum, Tate Modern, National Gallery, Victoria & Albert Museum.) Also like theater/plays -- isnt Kevin Spacey the director of the Old Vic? anything historical --Stonehenge, Bath to see Jane Austen center. I also would love to go to Stourhead Garden, Warminster, Wiltshire to see the Temple of Apollo where Darcy first proposed to Elizabeth! Also Chatsworth House in Derbyshire -- is that a private residence? I guess I should get some maps. But any advice I will appreciate!

Cool & wet in Oklahoma. And it was 90 deg yesterday... Wear sweaters & boots one day, then t-shirts & flip flops the next...
*sigh* I hate fall weather!! :P

message 165: by Carol (new)

Carol (goodreadscomcarolann) | 214 comments Connecticut has cool weather -- these are "sweater days", but not all days are raining. I love Fall! How can you beat apple fritters at Harvest Festivals OR when all the leaves are at their peak color (intense reds, oranges and yellows) OR the smell of fall in the air.

This is one town away from where I live (very "Colonial")--

message 166: by Aerykah (new)

Aerykah | 2071 comments I don't like cooler weather... If I could have 90 deg weather (with some cooler, rainy days in there), green grass & trees, and flowers all year round, I'd be incredibly, happy! ;)

Carol (goodreadscomcarolann) | 214 comments But then you miss out on snow -- skiing, sliding, ice skating, building snow men and making snow forts for snow ball fights! Plus we love decorating the exterior of our home with Christmas lights, wreaths and evergreens (no fake plastic but the real thing!)

Kim-Lost-In-A-Book That's why I loved Vegas. We had winter with cool/cold but it was dry. and we had Mt. Charleston for snow - or Utah if you wanted to drive farther for more snow. I don't ski so just to play in a little snow Mt. Charleston is good :-)

Kim-Lost-In-A-Book and we sometimes would get snow in the valley too.

message 170: by Carol (new)

Carol (goodreadscomcarolann) | 214 comments We flew into Salt Lake and drove up to Ogden, Utah. My sister-in-law & family have a condo there, they love to ski. The leaves were amazing, bright colors but the reservoirs were very low. I guess they need a good amount of rain/ snow this season. Haven't been to Mt. Charleston.

message 171: by Aerykah (new)

Aerykah | 2071 comments Oh, no... I could totally live without snow. :) Besides, we get more ice than snow around here anyway.
The only thing I like about cooler weather is that I get a chance to wear my sweaters, scarves, & boots. But I could live without those too. :)
As for Christmas lights, we have those up year round anyway... Just kidding! :P

Kinda like where I live...
Though many people will recognize my last name or my grandparents' last names, most don't actually know me. So, it's kinda a small-med size town that can sorta feel huge & tiny all at once. If that makes any sense... ;P
