Hannah Wow. I did not expect John to sacrifice himself. The family affection shown in this book, is to the next level, its very touching. I cried, and I never cry when I read.
Thomas sucks, I cant believe he had the audacity to try to be with June --after he killed her brother. Who does that?! >:(

Quincy Yeah I knew there was something not right with Thomas through out the book. I never liked him. I'm glad someone has read the book.

Janae He was a horrible person, and how he lived w/ himself i will never know!

Maddie I agree with all of the above posts.

I cried. Totally agree.

Sam it was beeautifuuuul. I LOVE DAY!

message 7: by [deleted user] (new)

LOVED THIS BOOK!!! Wanted to kill Thomas! How dare he think that he's anything more than scum? Even if he didn't kill Metis, the guy's like, 9 years older than June... petophile much?

Oh, and I LOVED Day! Oh my goodness! He was sooo amazing! <3 ;P It's funny, becuase he's a criminal, and we probably aren't really supposed to like him, but he's soooo amazing! I loved how he trolled the government so much... I mean, his fingerprints weren't even on file, so he was able to get away with pretty much anything! Such a genius boy! Oh, and it totally made sense that he got 1500/1500 on his Trials, I mean, the guy's a genius!

Anyways, hated Thomas, didn't really like June 'cause she totally betrayed Day (and if you think about it, Day's mother, and John, wouldn't have been killed if it weren't for June... just saying....), and love Day! Ahh! Day!!! <3

lol! Sorry, been kinda busy in Thunder Bay... be back soon though!!! OH AND SAMANTHA, one of my friends went to see the midnight premiere of the Hunger Games, and she said that it was "SOOO REALISTIC!!! THE ACTING WAS INCREDIBLE!!! IT WAS JUST LIKE THE BOOK!!!!!! AHHHH!!! I WANT TO WATCH IT OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN!!!!!!!" That was a summarization of what she said, although most of it was a direct quote... and she wrote it all in caps... Sorry everyone, you may continue your discussion on Legend. Here, I'll assist:

So excited for the second book!!!! Ahhh!!!! It's coming out in September of this year! That means I'll be able to read more about DAY!!!! <3 Ahhh!!!! <3

Hannah Ditto, love the surprises. I love when I cant predict.
By the way, are they making a movie out of this book...?

Ash Best book ever written. This had me under a spell for which I couldn't read other books, because of my disappointment of finishing this book. If Marie Lu doesn't write a sequel, I will jump off a bridge, (not really.) Oh yeah, I would kill to be Day........

I personally can't wait until September to read the second book. Guess I'll have to sneak into Marie Lu's house.

message 14: by Abby (new) - rated it 5 stars

Abby To be honest, I could see that John would willingly sacrifice himself for his brother. What I didn't see coming- Thomas. At first he seemed like a nice guy, obedient, trustworthy, kind. Then he showed how he really was- a mindless killer who will do anything to please others, even if it's to murder his childhood friend. I don't know how he had the nerve to still pursue June after doing such an unthinkable thing, and to her brother no less! He's a monster, but the story wouldn't have been complete without him.

Well, John did say,"I would rather die, than see you get hurt," so that was kind of expected. As for Thomas, he's the kind of character that makes this my favorite book. You want to cut his neck, but at the same time you can tell he's vital to the story. Never-the-less, I'm the looking forward to the sequel.

Betina Patricia I can't wait for the next book!!! UGHHHHHHHHH I HATE THOMAS! I want to kill him with the knife he stabbed on Metias' chest. Memories of June and Metias made me cry and ughhhhhhh John, he sacrificed himself and he really clipped on to his promise to Day "I would rather die than let them hurt you" :"(

message 17: by MaL (new) - rated it 5 stars

MaL I absolutly loved it!! And I was so happy that there was no stupid love triangle!! Agh Im so tired of those!

Hannah Well, there sort of was...but I guess Thomas doesn't count because he's a selfish jerk, who shouldn't be allowed to exist. :P

Erica never liked thomas

Ash Cassy wrote: "never liked thomas"

I don't think any of us did, he's a character that is purposely there for you to hate him. Without him the story would have no conflict, because Day and June would just instantly click with no love triangle.

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

Oh ho ho, I HATED Thomas! Okay, no matter how much I hate June, no 15 year old girl deserves to have a 24 year old man practically drooling at her feet!!! Ewww, he was DISGUSTING! Honestly! The guy's a creep! He would be just outside her door during the night! Stalker-ish much!?! And it was almost like he put cameras outside her door too becuase he knew when she would go out at night! CREEP!!!!! Go die in a hole, Thomas! Don't worry about, I already dug it for you, so do everyone a favor and just go die!

Kate Kid I was hoping that June would shoot Thomas right between the eyes the whole book. I also cried when John died... sooo sad! I felt so bad for Day when he found out. Day is dead to the world again... Just think of how his little brother feels right now besides his sickness. (If anyone remembers his name please tell me)

Quincy His little brother name is Eden

yeah but she thought he killed her brother and it was john's choice not her fault

Totally agree!!! I felt the same way. My favorite character was actually Metias- he was the brother I've always wanted to have. So sweet!!!

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

Yeah, Metias was soo sweet! Ahh! Metias and Day!!!! <3

message 27: by Enza (new) - rated it 5 stars

Enza Really liked Metias. Thought he treated June like an older brother should. I was really sad when he died, and i felt bad.

Yeah, even though I knew he was going to die based off the premise, his death was still really sad.

Ash Hey guys, just a quick recommendation, but if you liked Legend, then you'll love Divergent! Almost the same thing, but I think it's better than Legend. It's by Veronica Roth.

To who may concern:
first off I am not in to reading Utopian and dystopian literature but I really enjoyed this one.
I preferred legend over the hunger games any day
I did not like Thomas and my thought on John I felt sorry for him he did what he had to do for his brother it make him a good brother in my opinion .

best rewards
