and, I had always thought that peeta confessed his love to haymitch, who then decided to use it to their advantage...
I was always a little conused about that. I know what comment you mean and i figured that was insensitive to say in front of peeta if he knew he was for real therefore haymitch must not know. Yet at the same time he tells katniss after the games that he didn't have to tell peeta to go along with the love thing cause he was 'already there' now that implies that haymitch does know.
I'm just as lost on that front don't worry.

Thanks. :) When Haymitch said Peeta was "already there," could that have meant that he was so good at acting he didn't need help, as Katniss wondered?

The comment Haymitch made to Katniss on the train back to 12 about "once we get past the train station, we should be good."

Maybe. I guess its possible that haymitch, just like katniss, simply thought that peeta was playing it so well too. i just always imagined haymitch wiser than that. but if he knew he probably wouldn't have made the comment on the train. AAARRGGGGHHHH i don't know!!!!
Its just so obvious. Everytime i read it i yell at the book, 'wake up katniss, he's clearly head over heels for you. OPEN YOUR EYES'.

I thought he was wiser than that too. When I posted this topic, I had completely forgotten about that other comment you mentioned. Up until then I thought he just didn't and was making a harmless comment, but now...

Maybe so. That seems reasonable, and, if you think about it, he cares about Katniss and Peeta, so naturally, he'd tell Peeta the truth.

OOh i had not considered that. Maybe, that would tie in with the way i pictured his character. As in thats somehing he would do. Good thinking 99 :)

Oh hahahah when I first read "that peeta confessed his love to haymitch" I thought you meant that Peeta's love was FOR Haymitch... hahahah I was like uh, I think I missed THAT part of the book! :P

It would make sense for her to. Too much detail and a definite answer to all questions tends to get overwhelming. That, and if she told us the answer, we wouldn't be discussing it. :)

That's what I had assumed. This might be a stretch, but maybe he thought that Peeta knew that Katniss wasn't completely real in the Games.

I totally think Haymitch knew Peeta had a thing for Katniss. And I think he knew she'd eventually end up with Peeta too, but that's just my opinion.
I would agree with you, EXCEPT for that code between Katniss and Haymitch in the first Games, and that comment. It makes me wonder if he actually knew until she had proven it to him herself.
Yeah, he probably didn't know right off the bat.
I wanted to slap both him and Katniss as hard as I could when poor Peeta found out. I felt soooooo bad for him! I mean, here you are, thinking that your crush since kindergarten is in love with you, and all of a sudden, she says that she isn't, but rather was playing it up so that she could survive.

Poor Peeta:( He's too sweet for his own good ("I appreciate you more, marry me!").

Oh, I want them both:( Maybe I'll just marry Leo and save myself some troubleXD
You are not believable, Leah:P :)
