William Mego (willmego) | 3 comments Dumb questions, probably, but I fix every mistake or incomplete thing I personally run across on GR, being careful to work from certainty instead of random online junk...but I simply don't run across as much as I might like...and I love GR, and I'd like to help more! So is there a way I could find plenty of stuff to work on? It doesn't have to be terribly interesting, I don't mind just grunt data entry type of stuff, I tried searching in the forum here but came up with nothing. Forgive my denseness if it's an obvious answer, but I really would like to help, and don't mind drudgery.

Lobstergirl Something that is total drudgework but would be great for the database is supplying a language in the language field to every edition of every book.

Another big job that remains to be done is figuring out all the Unknown Books and Unknown Authors. (Unknowns are grouped together but are discrete so be careful.)

Sample unknowns:

If you have foreign language skills, particularly if you know other alphabets, there are lots of books where the foreign-alphabet editions are uncombined with their English versions.

Cheryl (cherylllr) | 363 comments I have lots of unknown covers and dates in my shelved books if you want to take a look, if you run out of things after you take care of Kim's and Lobstergirl's suggestions. :)

On behalf of all of us here, thanks!

William Mego (willmego) | 3 comments yay, great!
I swear, I did several searches trying to find a list of stuff to fix.

Thanks for the input all, I'm glad I finally just came out and asked.

Thanks for posting the lists, Lobstergirl. I just fixed one from the list, and two of its companions. Just a random rescue before bed. :)

Carolyn (seeford) | 573 comments Another good source to find stuff needing to be fixed:

use the 'Find a book/author' link on a comment box to look authors up. I find tons of misspelled authors, duplicate author profiles, multiple authors all jammed together, and authors with variations on Dr/Miss/Mrs/Mr as well as the alphabet soup of different credentials, both before and after the author's name.

Have fun!
