I'm not sure if aliens were involved. So far, Corridor seems to be the closest to what I'm remembering. I look forward to seeing what responses you get in your thread.

I believe Corridor may be my answer. I'll update everyone once I'v read it.
Just like you, I've amassed quite the collection of books I'd love to read.

:D Glad to have caught so many readers' attention. My inclination is strong for Corridor. I'll post as soon as I've read to let you know if that's the right book.

Thanks for the PM - I have no clue why I haven't received upadates on this thread, so I had no idea how many people had shown an interest and provided suggestions.

Let's see if Corridor ends up being the one.

I'll have to be fair and read both House of Stairs and Corridor before coming to any conclusion. I'll keep everyone posted. Thank you Rafi :)

Simi (simtara) | 25 comments Ach - I thought Corridor might be the book, and my memory was faulty about when I'd read it. But there is no way I read this book after 2012, when Corridor was published.

House of Stairs makes it to the top of my TBR list so I can check if that's the book.

Kara | 26 comments This sounds similar to something I remember reading when I was young. Was it a psychological experiment? Does it open with a girl waking up and having no idea where she is?

bookel | 4022 comments House of Stairs by William Sleator is on openlibrary.org here as an ebook you can borrow for 2 weeks (can return at any time), if you wanted to check it. Free to use the site and borrow.

Simi hasn't posted on this thread since 2014. If Simi doesn't respond to this, it should be moved to Query Abandoned by Poster.

Simi (simtara) | 25 comments Apologies all! I've been away from Goodreads for a while.

The book was "House of Stairs" after all.

Thank you for all the help (and great recommendations to follow up on). To those who were curious, I would recommend this read.

House of Stairs now queried ten times. I don't think that's the record, however.
