With summer just around the corner, I am getting excited to leave the classroom behind for a summer of writing and promoting my current novel Mama's Shoes. Since my book debuted in Nov. most of the writing I've done since then was connected to Mama's Shoes. Recently, I got back into my current project, a novel tentatively called Graduation Day. It's wonderful to "hear" new voices from these characters!

Moving right along on my HF novel Mourningtide. It's mentioned on my blog; I suppose I should have a page set up for it, but it isn't finished. I do, however, have a cover designed.

It's funny, the farther along you get, the more you dawdle (or, at least, the more I dawdle. Perhaps not wanting to finish it...? Hm. Must think about it.

Will do, Bart. I had planned to let everyone know what (if any) benefits I saw from this endeavor. I can tell you that today is only the second stop, and I've already had several Facebook likes on my fan page and had a handful of sign-ups to my newsletter. Coincidence? We shall see. Working on a book in a cycle, sequel to the first and prequel to the second (now the third). A man leaves his identity and life behind and goes away to recover from the death of a child. It's historical fiction, takes place a milennium or two ago, deals with characters that actually lived, and is currently pushing 85K words. I'll miss it when it's gone. Despite the theme, it's been a lot of fun to write with a lot of laughter. I'll do a giveaway when it's ready to go...

Still on novel rewrite, now on Chapter 14. Strong climactic scene. Been anxious to approach since it needs tweaking from first draft, yet at same time, hard to do because it's so emotional.

Let's see currently I am working on re edits and tightening up my Contemporary Romance, Exquisite so I can release the polished version in appx a month or so :)

Finishing final writing (as in filling in some holes) and pushing along with the first polishing on my HF that takes place in Egypt. It's about a young man's death and the effect it has on his father and brother. A sort of sequel to one of mine and a prequel to another.

I got my novel back from the editor a couple of weeks ago so I'm pouring over the revisions and editorial comments making necessary changes. The one positive aspect is that I have enough time on my hands to apply the diligence the task requires. On the other hand I'm unemployed and broke so that's why I've got the time, (when not looking for a job).My niece wants to do the book cover, she's a graphic artist and is in the biz.I told her she may not be interested in the subject material as it's WWII eastern front but she's game on the idea nonetheless. Anyway, there's pressure on one side and creative fun on the other.

Lynxie: It's always a balancing act. When I am working there are plenty of times when I can't get to writing for weeks on end for one reason or another. I hope you get back to your novel soon.

It is the first novel of an Urban Fantasy series, (also more rural than urban). I just started the second, and have two novella's in mind to write as well as a revision/edit on an oldie (Lilith) I haven't gotten to because of The Hunt.

I am working on my sequel to BY FORCE OR FEAR which I just published on Amazon the end of June. I'm 20% into the new story and getting more excited by the page. I love my characters and the world they have plunged into. However, I am also working HARD on marketing-blogging weekly to maintain my platform, keeping my website current as well as all the other things one has to do to sell books. It is a labor of love, to be sure. I wish there were more hours in the day.

I'm editing my mystery novel titled "Move." It's about a woman that gets stuck in a rut and makes a deal with a djinn to get out of it, only to have things go very badly because the djinn doesn't know what he's doing. I also wrote 3 chapters of my first non-fiction book in 5 years this past week called "Feathered Frenzy - A Quick Guide to Adapting Birds Into Your Life." It's a short book to give bird owners tips and tricks for creating a good home and life for pet birds. So I have two projects going - the fiction book is half done and the non-fiction book is just started!

I'm trying to get my second novel into final form. I'm not sure what, if any, genre it's in: it's a family drama with mystery elements, set in an afterlife of my own devising. I've still got a few editing decisions to make, as well as all the final copy editing/proofreading -- but first, I need to decide on the title so my cover designer can finish the cover. . . .

This is a project I've been working on for way longer than necessary, but that's what happens when you have a day job, a husband and a baby.

It's a cheesy love and loss, romance thing. I know it's not going to win any prizes for genius but after 6 months of writing pages and pages and then deleting them I'm happy with where it's going.

I'm working on the sequel to my humorous sci-fi book, There Goes the Galaxy. I'm a little over halfway done with the first draft.

I spent yesterday rereading what I'd done so far, and while it will need a great many more drafts, it's got the groundwork to be a fun read. I'm particularly happy that it takes existing characters and gives them something entirely different to play around with, compared to the first book.

After that, I have plans for a book of quirky stories of 70s/80s childhood (I have a number of these written already), facing things like bullies, childhood fears, etc.

Like Laura said above, these things seem to take a lot longer than necessary when you have a day job and other obligations. (I don't think I could manage it if I had a husband and baby, too-- kudos to you, Laura.)

I am setting down to write the 8th chapter of my veterinary mystery. This is the second book in the series. I have a pretty thorough outline completed...just need to make the words flow and have the story that is in my head come out on paper.

I so know how you feel Victoria. I am constantly second guessing myself on ideas and subplots within the story. I am working real hard to fight the temptation to rewrite till I finish the first complete draft. It is difficult to not try to perfect the story.

Luna- I have the same issue. I'm forcing myself to go forward and complete the draft, otherwise I will mire myself in perfectionist editing and stall myself out.

I am now working on keeping from tearing my hair out. Things were going well - and then I had a brainstorm about how to change the beginning to deepen the conflict (and the rest of the authorly talk which I don't have to repeat).

I think this pushes back my proposed release, but it will help the story immeasurably.

Since I reached my sales goal, I am working on a sequel. I am finding that writing a sequel can be tricky business. I have been over the first book and pulled out the useful tidbits that I plan to expand on. Now to make sure that I account for all the characters. This a bit harder than I thought it would be.

I am working on the sequel to my book, One Night of Regrets, at the moment. Also, on an inspirational poetry book, a children's book, and a book about dementia. A little bit each day in each one - doing the editing as I go this time.

I'm still finishing up my current MS. Have the scene list caught up, made notes about what twists still need to happen for each plot/sub plot, now I need to draw up a list of scenes for those, and then I can finish writing the last 1/3rd of the MS.

I revise as I write. my brain refuses to move forward until I've made the fixes that nag at me. It's weird I know, but it's what works for me. :)

Or then I could go back to the semi-autobiographical novel that's sitting on my hard-drive collecting e-dust. And there's this short story I wrote ages ago that keeps haunting me now that there are these things called Kindle Shorts. Or maybe I'll just got to the gym. Ah, procrastination!
