I very much prefered the Mortal Instruments. I have seen a lot of people say they preffered the Infernal Devices, but while reading Clockwork Angel, all I could think was that it was almost the same as City of Bones, but in a different era. And I think that is the biggest draw in for the series, that it's set in a different era, I thin k people like that.I didn't like clockwork angel very much, but I did enjoy Clockwork Prince, perhaps because I don't really like Will, but adore Jem.
I'll admit my favourite part of TID is that Magnus is in them. My favourite character of both series.
I adore Jem as well (: Will is...eh *shrug* don't hate him but I don't love him.Magnus seems to be everyones favorite but who could blame us he is pretty awesome!
MAGNUS IS THE HIGHLIGHT OF ID definitely, I'm not into the whole team Jem or Team Will thing.. It's really annoying and it really gets on my nerves. Tessa seemed really annoying in CA but she didn't bother me in CP.
Ohhhh, I love both of these series so much! But, I gotta go with TMI because I read them first. I prefer Will to Jem, and I'm hoping so badly that Tessa ends up with Will! That would make me so happy ^_^I love Simon and Jace both for different reasons. They have totally different personalities, but have one thing in common: Clary. I love them both! Simon and Izzy- YES!! Luke and Jocelyn? Please get married asap! Love them!

Isabelle rocks. I think she's tough on the outside but on the inside she's sweet. Haha I think the whole I am Shadowhunter and I am tough is just an appearance. Yup. COLS !!! 6 DAYS!
I think the same about Isabelle^^She's probably only trying to protect herself, thats why she acts tough.
I like them both. Will reminds me of Jace. I like how Mortal Instruments is modern, because it's cool to think about demons rampaging through New York. I like how the Infernal Devices is set in the past because I like that era. London in the 1800's is just way cool. Also, Tessa is way cool.

Probably I hope Simon is a big part in COLS.

I think the main focus will be Clary and Jace but I do think Simon will have a bigger part in this one, and I hope so too because I love Simon!

COFA was originally written in Simon's POV but Clare changed it.

I'll have to go to the library on May 8th to see if my request for COLS came in! I got Bitterblue and Insurgent from the library the day they came out!

Was not exactly sure where the right place to post this would be but whatever here works. So I was on Tumblr...and I discovered something great and thought i'd share incase somebody hasn't read it yet...
SNEAK PEEK OF CLOCKWORK PRINCESS!
Tessa craned her head back to look at Will. “You know that feeling,” she said, “when you are reading a book, and you know that it is going to be a tragedy; you can feel the cold and darkness coming, see the net drawing tight around the characters who live and breathe on the pages. But you are tied to the story as if being dragged behind a carriage and you cannot let go or turn the course aside.” His blue eyes were dark with understanding — of course Will would understand — and she hurried on. “I feel now as if the same is happening, only not to characters on a page but to my own beloved friends and companions. I do not want to sit by while tragedy comes for us. I would turn it aside, only I struggle to discover how that might be done.”
“You fear for Jem,” Will said.
“Yes,” she said. “And I fear for you, too.”
“No,” Will said, hoarsely. “Don’t waste that on me, Tess.”
I'd absolutely say Infernal Devices. TMI was great, don't get me wrong, but at times it felt so plot driven that the character development seemed rushed and packed in. TID had such brilliant characters, it's almost impossible not to love them. Tessa is also a far better, more interesting main character, and she seems (though incredibly confused over the Will / Jem dilemma - though aren't we all?) to be rational and irrational when it matters most. The beauty of ID is it takes you to another time, to another world, and let's you look into the souls of characters that are just characters and really have no souls at all. You feel for them as though they're real people. It's an incredible series :) I'd still recommend MI however, especially if you love the urban sort of modern style as opposed to steampunky, Victorian settings. :D
Great post, Hope! I prefer the witty humor Jace uses opposed to the fancy Victorian vernacular Jem and Will use. I do think that ID has fantastic character development though.
I prefer TMI, because of the humour and the personalities. And come on, how can't you love Simon and Jace? ID is good too, though.
I've only read City of Bones and loved the shadow world. I liked both Jace and Simon, Clary not to so much. But the whole thing that they are siblings and like each other in a romantic way got me very irritated. Will this keep going in the rest of the series?
Because if did, I'll read ID and if not so much I'll continue the series.
People, what do you think of the idea that Cassie Clare is expanding the Shadowhunter world into 5 series?
I recently finally finished The Infernal Devices, and now I think I like that series better. I dunno anymore though, they are both amazing!
Well, I honestly like both. I read Mortal Instruments before Infernal devices but at the end of the day, I definitely like Infernal Devices better. It came down to the characters for me. I could sympathise with the characters from TID more and they were just overall, more likeable (JEEEEEM!!!!) . I also like the Victorian setting, it made the story really intriguing for me. Also, I was kinda a bit 'meh' about turning the TMI trilogy into a hexalogy. I don't disapprove of it, I just like it a tad better as a trilogy. Oh, and I like Tessa better than Clary. Tessa for me, just had a bit more depth to her and didn't have the emotional range of a potato sack (No offence Clary!). But yeah, as much as I like TMI I absolutely adore TID, it's one of my favourite series to date.
I read Infernal Devices first and I was completely addicted, I loved the emotional depth of the characters and the mystery that shrouded Tessa and what she was. I loved the idea of the institute! When I found out about The Mortal Instruments I went out and bought them straight away.I was a little disappointed. The characters were almost the same (Will/Jace, Tessa/Clary Jem/Simon etc. etc.) but written more poorly. Yet there was a lot more to the plot with MI. I still really liked them and some of the twists in the plot I did not expect!
I almost feel like Mortal Instruments has a better plot but Infernal Devices is written with more character development/depth. I think she must have grown as a writer between writing the two series! Also was so frustrated that she didn't just leave Mortal Instruments as a trilogy! Gah! Kind of ruined it a little...
Over all I am all for the Infernal Devices, I am just in LOVE with all the characters and she is playing with all of my heart strings :')

And not tears as in 'pricking the back of your eyes' but as in 'full out loud sobbing and crying with tears streaming down my face for the last couple chapters of the book'

and I am excited for DA. I have not had enough from this story and do not mind another shadow hunter series, its just too amazing for me to grow tired of. Plus this is the first shadow hunter series I've read or even heard of.
