SOLVED. YA journal-type from guy's perspective [s]

I apologize that this is going to be very vague...
I've also never posted here before so I apologize if I post something I am not supposed to.
This has been driving me crazy, though, so I hope someone can help out!

I can't remember when I read it. I think it was considered a YA book. I recall it being told in a journal form. I think it was a guy in college, or maybe it was a boarding school, I remember there were dorms.
I think the guy writing the journal was interested in this girl who was a selective mute, or maybe he was a selective mute. I know this is crazy vague, I'm sorry it was so long ago...
But I remember one scene in particular. The guy is sitting outside the girls dorm room and she's having sex with someone else, and when she comes out he says something about her being a screamer.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about?!

It's called 'I Can't Tell You'. It's by Hillary Frank.
