Guys, trust me. This is my 1st language. There are several different words for normal, and the word for mango is one of them. Google translate is not accurate.

Here's my question, though, Saru. Am I correct in assuming you need to use a different word if you want "normal" to function differently in the sentence (translation: as something other than an adjective)? Because āma is only the adjectival form of "normal." Does my question even make sense?

As far as I know, all of them serve as adjectives. Sadharana, mamuli, and aam are all used as adjectives. They're interchangeable.

OH HEY LOOK I'VE GOT A QUESTION TOO.
so, i know for a lot of languages, it's really like for each adjective we've got in english, there are four in the foreign language- one male singular, one female singular, one male plural, and one female plural.
like, let's take the word "smart". and in hebrew, because that's the first language that came into my head lol. so, male singular- chacham, female singular-chachama, male plural- chachamim, female plural-chachamot. so, depending on which group of people you're speaking of, the adjective itself would change, although the root of the word stays the same.
sorry for that long explanation. anyways, does that kind of thing happen in hindi, or is it just, like it is in english, one form of each adjective ("he is smart, they are smart") no matter what?

There are only a handful of languages that have the noun classes you are referring to. Most of them are Latin-based. German has three -- male, female, and neuter. Some African languages have over a dozen.

well, i know russian and spanish also have three. i don't know about other languages because i don't know them. :p so i'm just curious how it is with hindi.

Hindi only has masculine and feminine but only 2 words. It's the same word for singular and plural. Also, some words, like for smart, are the same for masculine and feminine.

Dude, it would take me a half hour to fully explain my religion to you. It's complicated. But for one thing, they are sort of all for different reasons: Saraswati for knowledge and music, Lakshmi for wealth and fortune, etc but all the gods come together to form one supreme being. It's way more complicated then that. But that's kind of the gist.

The gender changes the adjective slightly, like in Spanish with o or a but with i or a. But just like in Spanish, there are exceptions.
