That is very cool. I am a Nurse too Andrew. I remember being newly qualified, was a scary time. Best of luck with it :-)
Andrew wrote: "lol.. I just qualified as an Adult nurse and have got my dream job as a scrub nurse in Neuro :)"Wow well done Andrew !
Thank you Emma/Lorraine :) I had two placements in Theatres in 3rd year and loved it, saw a lot of things and decided it was for me :) Cannot wait... paid my £76, now just waiting on Occy Health for a start date :)
Well cograts on getting the 'dream job'and glad your not the surgeon lol :) pretty pics in neurosurgery, I was really impressed to see that they can 'rewire' the brain to try and reduce chronic pain (presumably neuronal not nociceptive pathways, but not that sort of pain expert lol). Sure you'll love the challenges of it.
to the NMC, Lorraine. So I can call myself/work as a nurse. :) Plus another £65 for a background/police check which they will take from my first salary :) yay! :P
Same here, 120 quid to be a tech... But you don't get anything for it. I don't know about nurses, when we were ruled by the royal pharmaceutical society of great Britain at least we used to get the awesomely interesting pharmaceutical journal (and I'm not being snarky)... Now with the general pharmaceutical council we just get pompous boring mail once in a blue moon !

Oh that competition! My brain is totally scrambled since I did it. I have fallen asleep and missed half a film I was supposed to be going to see with a friend, I arrived for the interval and the second half, then later the same day forgot another appointment with a group of friends! It's quite scary submitting one's baby (writing) to the judgement of others.
Yep harsh is not the word Kate. Do you know, I got to do a 10.5hr shift today with time for 15min lunch, one pee (not done til 4pm) and no drink til lunchtime! I got to run around for that whole time too! (we are extremely short staffed at present and it is not usually that bad tbh) But I do love my job ( I give chemotherapy for a living) and I work that hard so that my patients are looked after as I would want someone to look after my nan!

Emma I would bow to you. I think nurses are perceived very badly by other hcp's,particularly doctors, yet in my experience the nurses have a much more holistic understanding of what its like to be a patient. doctors focus on symptoms while nurses see the reality and person underneath. my mum in law has also just undergone chemo and radiotherapy and the nurses made her seem special as a patient, for which we are all v grateful.
Being advocate for a patient is a major part of the job, even when it comes to the tough part of knowing when someone has had enough!Am glad that you have both had positive experiences. In our unit i like to think that every patient feels special and we generally have a lot of fun with them while they are sitting, sometimes for lengthy periods! Most of my patients know a hell of a lot more about me than they need to!
Glad you're back Kealan :) now I can let off a sigh of relief !And thanks for the request, always nice to wake up to a request from a handsome man ;)
I don't speak gaelic so I've no idea what you just said Kaelan, all I can say is cad... ok I can't remember how to spell it but I can say it and it means how are you?
