Anika A lot of people say that Mockingjay is the worst of the three books so how could it be better?

Anika I agree with that defiantly

Morgann I loved the series but it could be better if
Finnick doesnt die
Katniss doesnt hate gale and actually kills snow
Finnick doesnt die

Morgann she bitches about if for half of the last book that she should be the one to kill snow and risks everyone's life to kill him and in the end he just dies after she lets half of her little team die

Turtles All the Way Down 1. Katniss turns down both Gale and Peeta. I felt like there was no chemistry with either one of them and that the relationship/love trianlge was very out of place in the series.

2. End it with her beginning to over come the war and the Hunger Games, rather than settling down and popping out kids. She's been through a lot, but I feel like she never heals from any of it. She says she's getting better, but I don't believe it.

3. De-emphasize her role as the Mocking Jay. The mocking Jay was stupid to begin with. First of all, the symbolism didn't make sense; she should have been the Jabber Jay if the point was that the bird had survived despite the Capitol's desire to get rid of them. Secondly, I don't understand why she was the key figure of the rebellion at all. I don't believe for an instant that she was the first person to rebel against the game makers and try to kill herself, and i don't see how that would be the spark that lit the rebellion.

4. Tell the book from a third person point of view. We miss so much because we are stuck in Katniss' head. Katniss is a mentally and emotionally scarred girl who spends most of her time freaking out, sleeping in closets, and getting drugged up. She was a poor frame of reference for this particular book. It might have worked in the Hunger Games, but it doesn't work here.

5. Have the rebellion lay siege to the capitol rather than run in guns blazing. The capitol could have been taken with barely any loss on the rebellion's side had they properly laid siege to it instead of charging in like idiots. The capitol was completely reliant on the districts, cut them off from those and you have a bunch of people who don't know what it means to go without starving to death. Then this part could have been shown from the point of view of a capitol citizen or official or even Snow, which would have done wonders for fleshing the capitol out.

6. Kill major characters on screen. If the character is important up to that point, then their death needs to be shown. Just giving a passing mention to Cinna's death was ridiculous. He had been a major part of Katniss' circle up until that time, and his death should have been given more attention than a line or two.

Allie this may be a surprise but I actually liked Snow from the start and was glad that she killed Coin. I was happy with the third book. Glad that Coin didn't rule but it could have been better if Finnick or Prim didn't die. I know that we didn't really know Prim that much but still i was sad that she had to die. Other than that i thought it was really good BUT my least favorite from the series...

Teri It was pointless and pathetic to kill (SPOILER ALERT!!!) Prim at the end of the series when it was because of HER that Katniss got into the Games in the first place!!!

**********SPOILER********
me too but also I wanted a grander ending. She lost too much that was dear to her it was too devastating at the end to leave it that way. She lost her dad, Madge, Peeta's family, in theory she lost Gale and in a way her mother, Prim, FINNICK, CINNA!=(,and more. I wanted nay needed her to have one last triumph! There was too much tragedy not to be balanced out with some happy closure aside from that she did end up with Peeta. It just wasn't enough after all she'd been through.

1. Katniss gets her crap together and has the fire from the first two books.
2. Cinna survived.
3. Actually FUNNY moments with Haymitch.
4. Gale to actually try to FIGHT for Katniss.
5. Peeta never gets hijacked.
6. For Katniss to actually CHOOSE instead of just settling for Peeta.
7. A better ending.
8. A better rebellion.

Basically, everything. -_-

Ashe Whiting 1. Prim doesn't die. That kinda ruined the whole damn point of the story for me. That's what started it and she should have made it SAFELY to the end. Since she died, it kinda makes everything Katniss did pointless.
2. Finnick doesn't die. Seriously? Why give a character everything he wants just to take it all away by his death? At least he died happy, but still, wtf.
3. Katniss actually fall in love with someone. We started it in book 2, there was actual development toward a relationship with Peeta. Then book three said, hey, let's make Peeta sick, have her give up on him and start to settle for Gale, bring Peeta back, send Gale away and have her end up with Peeta anyway.
4. We get more of an acknowledgement of Cinna's death. He was one of her only friends, he deserved more than a sentence or two about him being dead.
5. Katniss defends her actions against Coin, explains why she did it, and becomes the TRUE face of the rebellion. Rather than sitting in her room before being sent home to do exactly as the damn Capitol (old or new) planned from he start. She was the girl on fire. She kicked ass. Why is it that in the end she was still just a pawn in the damn games?
6. Katniss doesn't seem like a crazy, I mean "mentally displaced", and weak individual throughout the whole book. They took someone who was wise beyond her years and turned her into a confused child.
7. We get some real damn answers about Snow, Coin, Gale's bomb, Prim's death, and wtf actually happened there.

BEST BOOK EV-ah!

message 14: by Elli (new)

Elli 1. If Prim and Finnick didn't die.
2. If Gale and Katniss still were best friends in the end.
3. If you got to know if Peeta recovered to 100% and that he did.

Elizabeth Day It probably is the worst. It might just be because I love the Peeta-Katniss romance and there wasn't much of that. But besides that the only thing she could have done better is if she lengthened the end a little more. It was very rushed and very short and she probably should have made it longer.

Betty Cross The book is handicapped by being in Katniss' point of view. Some chapters need to be told from other points of view, such as Coin, so we could be a better fix on her character. I get that Coin is supposed to be ultimately a bad guy, but we don't really understand her. Some chapters could be through Paylor's POV, so that when Paylor gets to be President at the end, we can have some confidence she's better than Snow or Coin. Also, I sometimes think if any of the male characters should die, it would be better if both Peeta and Gale got killed, giving Katniss a chance to start over. Maybe with Finnick? A girl can dream, can't she?

I think I know why Lionsgate is going to make 2 movies of "Mockingjay." They want to develop the other characters more.

Shahrazad I Don't know i'm not a Writer but i think it's could be better if all the things in district 13 and all that stupid stuff Not mentioned that much , plus i didn't like how S.C wrote about finnick death. It was like one moment he was there and then he was gone and No one mentioned him for the rest of the book. i just can't handle it damn

I think it made it more realistic...so many people died, and it would be implausible that no one Katniss loved got hurt. Finnick contributed to that too, I think.

Iola peeta should of found the pearl and then start to get fully better. thats the problem with this 1 there was no real peeta. i missed the boy with the bread :(
