Is it just me or did anyone else find this book...?

Is it just me or did anyone else find this book kinda uninteresting? Sure the end was good but the entire book was about poetry and stuff. That wasn't what I thought it'd be like when I first picked it up, and apparently the 2nd book is even worse then the 1st so im just going to drop the entire series all together. Can I get other people's opinions on this book? Because I thought it was bad.

It was about poetry? Interesting, I thought the book was about a governing body that had complete control over every aspect of people's lives. The poetry was used as a catalyst that got Cassia questioning the world she lived in and helped her bound with someone who understood just how small her world is.

Laurie I listened to the audio books of both Matched and Crossed and they were so well done, I think I cared for the story and characters much more than if I ...more

It was lame.

I felt the second book, Crossed, is actually a better story.

I loved it. It was quite simple.

My only problem with this book is that it was kind of slow

i started to read it, but got bored so never finished it :)

My exact feelings.

weel it was okay in the starting but when i started to get interested in this book it became boring as in the end it was good enough but it was just somewhat lacking and i'm thinking of giving up the entire series it's like a cliff hanger. (this is my opinion don't judge me, lol:)

It Depends, SOme parts we too closley centering the poetic side of things. Other parts expressed the dramatic side. It might not have been that adventures but it must have been for the people in the book!

I didnt like it, my friend did though so she tried reading the second one. She gave up halfway through.

I agree the poetry aspect of the books were hard to decode but I liked the idea of cassia's story as a whole.

I couldn't finish the book, I found it so boring and I think the characters were uninteresting.

I loved Matched, the sequel Crossed did not Impress me though. I pray that Reached will wrap things up nicely and we can get back to what was book 1 instead of book 2.

I actually found it to be a quite enjoyable read. It wasn't amazing but I found it interesting to learn about their world and how things worked.

i found this uninteresting i got 2 chapter 13 and i was already bored of it

It wasn't my favorite. I wanted to like Cassia and ky more but I didn't.

I thought it was An ok book

It was actually pretty good. I was surprised.

kinda unintersesting

I personally liked it.
When you've grown up knowing only 100 books/songs/paintings and even poems. Anything would be interseing in Cassia'a position.
Some poetry even held 'messages'.

The 1st book is good, but I have to agree that the 2nd is not so great. Not much happens to be honest, and it took me utterly WEEKS to read the 2nd book, as it became quite a struggle to get through.
So if you could barely get through the 1st, I definitely would NOT recommend this series!

yeah i thought it was pretty bad, i liked the idea and stuff but the characters were really dull and it never went into detail on anything so it was really 1D and bad. i read crossed and halfway was like, why am a still reading this. also both books were kinda the same story wise, whats up with that?

Katelyn said: It wasn't amazing but I found it interesting to learn about their world and how things worked.

I agree, but then they had to runaway from it all, and I was curious to see more of the inner workings of the established world.

It seems in almost every YA dystopia book I read, the main characters end up running away, instead of staying and fighting within the system (boring!), while in adult dystopia literature there is nowhere to run, and the characters are forced to confront the society and attempt to change it from within.

The Hunger Games, which fits in perfectly on the YA shelves as well as the adult shelves is a great example of fighting from within the system, and shows there really isn't time for lalala romance when you're shell shocked and fighting for what you believe in.

If you're hesitant about the first, don't bother with the second, unless, of course, you love books where people are always on the run. It's told in alternating chapters/voices of Ky and Cassia and they sound like the same person!

I wish YA authors would stop trying to cash in on the popularity of vampire romance (thanks for nothing, Twilight!), dystopian romance (the Hunger Games was fantastic, and luckily, largely devoid of puppy love, but it does seem one too many authors are going for dystopian love triangles), and fallen angel romance (how did that get so popular? I even read a vampire fallen angel mix book - an idea that made no sense).

I'll stop venting. :) My main point: Read something else instead.

I didnt like it much. Thought maybe it was because of my age. It was an interresting idea just not terribly well executed.

It took me a while to get into it and was considering abanding it

I started to read it, but it got really boring so I never finished it.

Yeah I didn't really like it. I found it boring.

it was boring...there was like nothing exciting that went on in it...but crossed was better

I thought it was not up to my expectations. The whole love triangle was just too predictable like Twilight and how could they work machinary when they can't even read!!! I had to laugh how our world looked so idiotic how she created. Ally Condie's writing seemed to go on and on describing way too much. Overall, I just hated everything. Not going to ever check out the second book.

I really liked Matched, but Crossed was a bit disappointing. I am looking forward to the final book in the series because I often find that first and third books in trilogies are the strongest. We'll see...

I loved the book and the second as well and I especially enjoyed the fact that it was slow paced and that it had poetry in it. But that's just how I feel.

i noticed it was a little poetic, but the second one is certainly more so. i really couldn't enjoy the second one because i found it took too much decoding, and figuring out the poetry for me.

I liked the book but it was definitely too slow. The entire time I was reading it seemed like the beginning of a story. It never got off the ground. The second book is worse (if you can imagine that). I'm going to read the third one just because I'm a little OCD and I want to believe that it HAS to get better. That this is all leading somewhere. I'm probably wrong though.

Like the story was too slow and you just couldn't get into it? Yeah. I did

I loved the book... but thats just my opinion.
