What did you think of the plot?

I LOVED Hunger Game. I thought it was well written and creative. The present tense took me a little while to get used to, but once I did, I couldn't put the book down.

Then came book 2. I was excited to begin and purchased it as an ebook mere minutes after I finished book 1. But the plot...really? Katniss and Peeta go back? That's the plot? I understand that they wanted to get back at Katniss for what she did in book 1, but making her take on the role of mentor and forcing Prim to play would have certainly worked if the reason was revenge. Don't you think? Then we (the readers) could have witnessed the "games" from another perspective. Events still could have led to the plot of book 3. So what do you think? Did Collins mirror the plot of book 1 because it was a money maker? Do you think her editor and publisher forced her to go that route? Would a completely different take on the games have made this trilogy stronger?

THG isn't the most creative book, I mean, if you did read "1984" and "A happy world" before, BUT I must have to admit that was funny and I enjoyed a lot the first 2 books, but the plot of the second was not the best but it's okey, it reflects a little part of the humankind nature.

S.L. Wallace I absolutely LOVE "1984", and although "The Hunger Games" trilogy is about a dystopian future, that's where the similarities end. I haven't read "A Ha ...more

It was AWESOME. Every part of it. Bu I loves the plot.

I absolutely ADORED the plot. It was amazing! I loved every moment of it!

I think the plot was brilliant. I loved that they went back into the arena. that was such an exciting part of book 1 that I'm glad more of the "hunger games" made it into book 2.

You know, at the time I thought the same thing, that it was a bit of a cop-out... but, with I thought it played out a lot better than I expected. It wasn't just a re-vamping of the first book, but showed the games through a different perspective. This time, Katniss DID have allies, and they were really more fighting against the elements (which had been put together specifically to destroy them) rather than each other. I thought it was an interesting way to take the same idea as the first book, and yet have just as much intensity and suspense.
