Steve Patton | 6 comments Where do you find a good editor and at a cost that fits a self-published budget? As I begin releasing my books, I would love to partner with an editor to grow with, as I want someone that understands my books...I don't need a proof-reader. I realize that hitting the dream of getting published by a big publishing house is probably out of reach, so I am left with Grammarly...and although I may have the perfect sentence (it's correcting me even as we speak), it doesn't know me, my writing or my personality style. I'll keep on dreaming : )

Hi, I'm an editor and ghostwriter with over 15 years of experience in editing across all scholarly fields. I come highly recommended by professors from the University of British Columbia, Canada, for their graduate students, and I also specialize in creative writing.

As a classical archaeologist currently studying Medicine, I hold several university degrees in both the Humanities and Sciences, although I am naturally artistic. I have published numerous peer-reviewed articles and scholarly books, both traditionally and independently. Additionally, I have authored two historical novels that blend mystery, espionage, thriller, medical science, romance, and fantasy elements, enriched with philosophical symbolism. Both novels are part of separate series, featuring complex characters and intricate plot developments. My Roman Archaeology Master's thesis, which received full marks, was based on the research conducted for one of these series. I am currently working on their sequels.
The Tower of Malatha: A Novel of Ancient Rome
The Oracle of Delphi: That Which is Hidden
Rise of the Magi
Destiny's Tide: From Exile to Empire

As a native English speaker, I am proficient in British, Canadian, and American English. I have extensive editing experience in English-speaking countries and have also edited for non-native English speakers in several other countries. My editing portfolio includes work for the Canadian government, and editing and ghostwriting projects for corporate CEOs in China and the United Arab Emirates.

I charge by the hour, with relatively low fees. My editing is of a high standard, thorough, and detail-conscious. I have been writing since early childhood and grew up with writer parents, which has fueled my lifelong passion for creativity and the meticulousness in my work.

Lee Burton (lsburton337) | 23 comments Hey there, Ocean's Edge has been offering quality editing at reasonable prices for over thirteen years.

At the moment, I have some available slots for both developmental and copy and line editing going into the summer. For every book, I try not to just look for technical errors but also to provide feedback if I feel it's warranted. The long and the short: if I see something wrong with your book, I'm going to tell you about it.

I live in Canada and invoice in Canadian dollars ($.01 CAD per word), which is typically good value for my American and European clients.

Feel free to check out my website and my client libraries, at https://www.oceansedgeediting.com/

Friendly inquiries always encouraged.

Kayinat Kashif (kensediting) | 8 comments QUICK DEVELOPMENTAL EDITING TIPS:

📚Characters aren’t cardboard cutouts. They’re 3 dimensional, with an actual personality. They need life not templates.

📚A plot isn’t a smooth highway to your favorite convenience store. It’s a wild, unpredictable journey through tangled forests and relentless challenges. Buckle up.

📚If your story doesn’t make the reader FEEL all the emotions under the sun, it’s not memorable. They’ll forget it the day after.

📚If everyone loves your book, it’s probably playing it safe. And safe is boring.

📚Cliches aren't a thing if you know how to develop them properly. It’s a tool to attract readers.

📚Tropes ARE IMPORTANT. They are the best marketing tool you’ll ever use.

Why only read these tips? See them in action. Let me do it for you. Visit my website: https://kensediting.wixsite.com/booke...

Ellen | 1 comments Seeking an opportunity to enjoy your work while adding value and polish!

My offer is simple: $.01/word with the first 15k words free to earn your confidence.

My experience at this time is limited to 20 manuscripts, and I’m expanding rapidly. Until now, I’ve been working pro bono here on Goodreads and elsewhere doing beta and proofreading. I’ve received great reviews on my proofreading, which you can find on my free beta thread here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

My tools thus far are MS Word, GoogleDocs, epub readers, Merriam-Webster and The Chicago Manual of Style. Any tools you require or suggest are fine, so long as they’re free and I can comment inline within the manuscript.

My favorite reads include historical fiction, fantasy, and sci-fi. I love comic books as well.

The theme and use of language can be anything at all. I was born and raised in a very large city and am fairly well traveled, so I tend toward interest or amusement rather than taking offense or passing judgement.

In addition to an outstanding command of English, I have sufficient background in Spanish to have beta and proofread a friend's Spanish-to-English translation of her novel.

Please message me here on Goodreads to engage, or contact me directly at pennypageproofreading@outlook.com
