Natasa (natasalikes) | 146 comments So far Frank E. Peretti is the only author I've found whose author name includes an initial in his first two publications (This Present Darkness, Piercing the Darkness), that is later changed to Frank Peretti in later publications, see here.

His official website, Twitter, Facebook all show his name as Frank Peretti, not Frank E. Peretti. My question is should his GR name be changed to Frank Peretti without the initial to reflect this change as well (there are already a few books under that name too that would make merging easier too)?

Sounds like there's good cause to merge to the no-middle-initial version.

Elizabeth (Alaska) This would not apply to all authors with some books with a middle initial and other books without.

Iain M. Banks
Iain Banks

These are the same person who uses a different form of his name for fiction versus mystery.

Certainly. This is definitely a case-by-case sort of thing.

Shay | 177 comments What about this case:
The Evening Hour A Novel by A. Carter Sickels by A. Carter Sickels. Carter Sickels is listed as additional author.

I have a physical copy of the book in my hands. The cover as released is identical, except the author's name on the cover is "Carter Sickels"- no initial A. Should the author A. Carter Sickels be deleted? I can upload the actual cover image. I just wanted to leave it until the author issue was settled.

I would change the author name and cover in this case. The publisher lists it without the initial.

It looks like this is the author first book. There was probably a last minute change on how the author name was going to be listed.
