Is there Romance?

There's a bit of romance, mostly in the third book. I loved the trilogy-it's an amazing alternate history/fantasy series with dynamic characters.
Is it anything like his Uglies series? I mean it was ok but I didnt love it..So if this was different it would be great. I really like the concept of steampunk(ish) settings in fiction.
In my opinion it's not really like the uglies series. It has a completely different plot and main character. Deryn is stronger than Tally and I find her to be the character I like more.I think the reason I didn't like The Uglies was because Tally was so... easily swayed. It was like, IMA REBLE! NO WAIT I'M A SPESHAL SO I CAN KILL PPL BUT I'M REALLY A REBLE!111
Very good series. There's a bit of romance but it isn't prominent in the book. This is more of a steampunk/alternate history adventure than a romance.
Basically Alex is running from people who are trying to kill him. A airship crashes Alex and his men help the airship and are taken captive. While on this airship there is a guy named Dylan but he is actually a she since girls can't fly. So Dylan and Alex become friends and great allies and towards the last two books there is romance between them. I think that sums it up.
There is romance, but the kind of romance that makes sense for characters that are so young. It's more like the awkward flirty kind of romance. Also, there are amazing illustrations in this series. (It is written for younger readers than the Uglies Trilogy was).

Exactly. I loved it. As long as you don't pick it up expecting it to be some hot romance, you will like it. Romance heats as series goes, but it's the sweet kind, you know?
