Books, though? No. Varying between 'not really' and 'oh god no' depending on the book. Some of them are fun, but the overall quality is very low.
[Of course, the real question is: why not SPELLJAMMER or PLANESCAPE!?!?!?!???].
Dragonlance was my first fantasy love. I read Dragonlance Chronicles: Dragons of Autumn Twilight/Dragons of Winter Night/Dragons of Spring Dawning when I was in high school and loved every minute of it. Never really played D&D however, but have played some good computer games and MMORPGs.

crossovering both dragonlance & forgotten realms.
as for planescape never really read or played the game.

I believe Tracy Hickman and margaret Weis write dragonlance books

Ravenloft has a gothic-horror setting and can appear anywhere to swallow up new worlds. Dark forces that rule there are attracted to evil in other worlds. But what you really need to know is that when the mists appear, you're in trouble:)
I also like Forgotten Realms.
Haven't jet read any of DragonLance.

I read on my Laptop and all my books are in there, not enough room for the 'real' ones.
I do have Kindle for pc, but prefer Calibre and use it for all my book-ish needs.

Each series deals with its own events, and it usually explains all you need to know at the beginning.
I looked up Forgotten Realms on wiki, so i got a general idea on what it is, then i took a series that looked interesting.

I wound up reading the whole series and fell in love with the genre. I read pretty much every FR novel that came out prior to 1993 or so. And I read most of the important Dragonlance books and most of the Dark Sun books too (I loved the first Dark Sun series).
I still have very fond memories of devouring Forgotten Realms novels as a young teenager and most of those paperbacks are still in my bookshelf.

Like the original RA Salvatore series. What was it called? Icewind Dale or something like that? Interestingly, that was the only series with Drizzt that I cared for back when I was reading that stuff. I know he was by far the most popular FR character, but he never really held my attention all that much.
