Nick (whyzen) | 1295 comments Since I've been on goodreads I know I've seen more than a few bad advertisement tag lines.

One I saw today was for Moon Flower where the tag line said "It's Like Al Queda... With Dragons" .

Anyone else remember any bad tag lines they'd like to share? I'm racking my brain to remember some of the other ones I've seen on here.

Brad Theado (readerxx) a tag line like that almost makes me want to read it...until I read the book's description that is.

Alterjess | 319 comments A while ago, there was an ad running in the NYC subway system for some crime thriller novel by one of those really prolific authors I've never read. The ad copy was a pull quote from a review which read:

"When [authorsname] is on fire, nobody can touch him!"

Nick (whyzen) | 1295 comments These aren't bad. They are just funny.
Army of Darkness
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Army_of_...

-Trapped in time. Surrounded by evil. Low on gas
-1 Man, 1 Million dead, The odds are just about even.
-They move. They breathe. They suck.
-Sound the trumpets, Raise the drawbridge, and drop the Oldsmobile
-How can you destroy an army that's already dead?
-In an age of darkness, at a time of evil...When the world needed a hero, what it got was him.
-Hello shebitch, this is my Booomstick

Even more so when they weren't done so intentionally.

Keith (keithatc) My favorite is a case of perhaps mistranslation. It was for the Hong Kong kungfu film "War on Shaolin Temple," which boasted the tagline, "A Film! You Don't Miss It!"

Below is some tagline text from the article above.
--------
Some taglines are pretty accurate: "Your dreams are not your own" - Wake by Lisa McMann.

"In a world of extreme beauty, anyone normal is ugly." - Uglies by Scott Westerfeld.

Some are a little weird: "Are you a good witch....or a bad witch?" - Revealers by Amanda Marrone.

Some a little scary: "How to meet the boy of your dreams in a month or less!" - 30 Guys in 30 Days by Micol Ostow.

Some are a lot scary: "What's sexier than a two-ton costume of brown fur?" - Animal Attraction by Jamie Ponti. (I can think of a few things.)

Some question you: "What does it take to cross the line?" - Something Happened by Greg Logsted.

"What if you could get any guy you want?" - The Secret Life of a Teenage Siren by Wendy Toliver.

"How is a girl to choose?" - The Boys Next Door Jennifer Echols.

"Do you believe in fate?" - Invisible Touch by Kelly Parra.

But most are at least a little weird, while also being slightly accurate: "You can never have too much....DRAMA!" - The Four Dorothys by Paul Ruditis. (This one isn't that weird until you consider the fact that, on the book, the word drama is in big gold sparkly letters.)

"You either have it....or you don't." - The One by Ed Decter.

"If you want it that bad, it can't be good..." - What Would Emma Do? by Eileen Cook. (Why do so many of these have ellipses?!)

"At boarding school, no one can hear you scream." - Wuthering High by Cara Lockwood. (I don't want to go to boarding school then.)

"The dead travel fast." - Soulless by Christopher Golden. (Zombies aren't fast.)

Keith (keithatc) Some day I'm going to convince a film to use my tag line: "Part shark. Part man. All man."
