The Way of Kings
question
The new series of this age?

Brandon Sanderson goes deep into the minds of imagination. The first part of the book is a little hard to understand, but I think this series is going to far out-pass "The Wheel of Time" series. What are your thoughts?

The first book in an "epic" series is always heavy on the world building. So, yeah it was a little tough to get through some parts, but it was all necessary. I have a feeling that after the next book or two it will be fun to reread this monster and see how expertly the groundwork was set up. I expect nothing less from this author.
As for how it will compare to WoT? I try not to make comparisons between series', unless one is an obvious rip-off. This series seems pretty fresh to me, but as with any massive undertaking of literary adventure, some people won't be able to strap themselves down for ten 1000 page books even if they are the best books ever.

I enjoy it quite a bit, but I felt that Sanderson could have trimmed a good 300 pages and I wouldn't have missed much by way of plot or character or world building.
I thought it had a wonderful magic system. I can't wait to see how it plays out on the lives of Kalidin and Shallan.
I'm also curious to see how all the little interstitial scenes work into the story arc of the whole series.

I felt I was just starting to grasp what was going on as the book ended. Loved every minute, however, and have since reread a few times.
I also cant wait for the next book!

I loved this Book. As far was trimming it... i dont understand how anyone can says this. it is the 1st book in a 10 book set. no one knows what info may be needed for the next part of the story. Sanderson has alway created a great story... i wish the book was longer... so far this is my fav book. i cant wait to read more
And i LOVE the sprins

I think it could've been trimmed down, especially at it's length. even Brandon says it's sort of bad to have such a huge first book. I liked it enough though and I think it could be the new series of this generation...I don't think my generation has an epic fantasy to its yet.
I'd read the next.

Got it, but haven't read it yet. Currently reading Warbreaker, which is a great book.
Best book I've ever read. Absolutely loved this book and can't wait for the next book.
